my bottom 2 sata ports do not work. (ports 5 &6)i have tried several devices and cables in them, still n/g. the intel matrix manager says that i only have 4 ports on this board. i am using the 10/19 bios, the drivers that came on the disc. i have 2 x raptor in ports 1 & 2, a seagate 500gb 7200.11 in port 3, and a sata dvd/r in port 4. neither hdd or opticals work in ports 5 and 6. the j.micron ports yellow ports 7 & 8) work fine. do i have to move a jumper to disable esata to enable these ports? my first board arrived doa. i just got this back after 2 weeks from newegg today. i would really hate to have to rma it again. other than that, it all works great.

btw, is there any reason to move the fsb jumpers? i have my overclock set in bios, and its working fine. is there some benefit to using these?

    Thanx.

I think you need to have latest bios but no need to mess with the jumper. I did just that and all my sata works properly. I reckon that's a software problem, not a sata connector malfunction.
No need to move the fsb jumper, just overclock via bios. Haven't seen anyone use the jumper to increase fsb. Perhaps you could only use it if you have some older cpu with less fsb than the newer 1066/1333MHz Conroes's or quads.

Corsair memory turned out to be damaged/Got a firm price and ETA on E8500 processor

I tried again with the 2nd module in each of the four slots, and got the same result. Nothing, PC POST is stuck with LED on motherboard dispaying C1.

Unless there is something else I am missing, I have to assume the memory is defective/incompatible with MB. Any final suggestions?
I needed to put my old memory back so I could go in BIOS and boost vDIMM to 2.25 v as suggested by a Corsair tech rep.

I was in process of reseating one of the Corsair memory modules when the one heat shield and part of an Ic fell off. I guess that explains my memory problem

The dealer I bought memory from is going to get RMA'd right away, but "right away" might take ten business days. it is a good thing my Patriot memory is still working ok.

On a seperate issue, I have an Intel E8500 "Penryn" Dual Core Processor coming for a confirmed price of $312 Canadian dollars. Delivery is quoted as 2-3 weeks...

just flashed the latest official bios (12/24) and still n/g. intel matrix manager still says there are only 4 sata ports. is this a common fault, or it only hits a couple boards?

i see in this thread there is only one guy with this problem - orkan, post #413 page 17, and it doesnt look like he got a fix. i guess i can use the crappy j.micron for now its only an optical drive. but i might need those ports, also someday (soon) i am going to sell the board to swap to a 780i or 790i board for sli, this means i will have to rma it, again, i just got it back from friggin rma today, my first was doa. i havent got a doa part since about 2002. way to go, dfi qa.

Who in Canada is supplying?? I need one real bad I just wonder if they will come through retail channels before you get your pre-order.

It is popular problem as Intel Matrix Controller see only 4 disks if RAID is enabled - all You need to do is enabling RUN AHCI ROM in BIOS. You can find it in BIOS under:

    -> Intergrated Peripherals -> On-Chip IDE Device

Set Run AHCI ROM to Enabled (Enabled = 6 drives / Disabled = 4 Drives)

    It should solve Your problem.

I would the bios settings for that, because in my Maximus i can run this without problem, but with DFI i have issues reaching 500 fsb stable .

    Thanks.

    PS : I have E8200 too.

DFI is more of a tweakers board than Maximus. You just need to work a bit harder.

Manually set board timings including PL. They may be defaulting to values too tight for the strap/divider you are using. By default these settings on auto are much tighter out of the box then other boards for increased performance.

I tried it manually, but no success, but now its ok, i dont know why .
    I`m priming at 8 x 500 now.
On the dfi i need to set a little bit higher vCore for 4G like on the maximus, but now its ok..

Was just a note, i too have this board for a while and have clocked on some P35 Asus's, they seem more simple than the DFI, you really need to work your bios in order to squeeze the max out of it. I'm not saying that the Maximus is a bad mobo in any manner.

Mine P35 UT is working well with 7x500MHz, all voltages at stock (except VCore ) on E6600 but with E8200 I'm unable to hit 500MHz stable No matter what BIOS I use or what voltages I set, playing with GTL and timings doesn't help...

From what I read, the latest beta bios adds the VTT table for the 45nm chips. That may help.

Same thing with 109 BIOS, E8200 @ FSB 500MHz = no stability at all, no matter what multi I use.

Yes, retail Wolfdales tend to cause some problems not just on DFI mobos...

I reached 500 stable, but now all of my RAMS ( like 3 kits ) are instable .
I tried vNB over 1.6, vMEM over 2.4, etc.
    1:1 etc.
With e6700, e6850, etc i dont have issues about is..
I ran my crucials at 1200 with 2.05v with other cpus, memtest stable, but with E8200 i cant run them stable at 1000 ( 1:1 ) .

I mean with E6850, E6700 etc i dont have the same issues like with E8200..
For example i can run ~same fsb with my gem E6850 ( 580 fsb ) in the dfi and in the maximus, but E8200 clocks higher in Maximus like in the dfi.

So its seems dfi doesnt like the 45nm chips, or something like this..

That's another matter, i didn't realise. Perhaps it has something to do with bios or otherwise i don't know..

Thanks to all for the fine work in this thread!
I've Only read the 1st 800 posts in detail so far.
Little late to the party (hale I'm late to the Intel party) but I have the LT model, Corsair HX620, GSkill F2-6400CL5D-2GBNQ and an E8500 on Pre-Order with TankGuys.
Don't know if I am excited or just plain scared

    Wish me luck!
