The perfect dyes/colors green, blue, etc.

    Disclaimer...
Well I know talking about dyes, colors, and lighting doesn't excite some of you, like flow rates, pressure drops, and fan ratings, but it is part of watercooling as well

I would like this thread to be about finding the perfect colors. Blue, Green, Red, Purple, etc..etc.

My tracerline has always had this yellowish tint to it. So I experimented a little bit and found a great green combination. It's that nice aqua-green without the yellowish tint.

1 drop of TP-3900 dye (Tracerline-DD) it has a Greenish yellow tint, very very strong.
15 drops of frozen cpu blue dye (weak, but nice for tints)

The first picture is the mix, the second is the tracerline, notice the yellow tint? I also think my tygon is starting to get cloudy

I always would like to find that nice bold deep blue. The frozencpu dye is too light. I know tracerline also has a blue dye.. has anyone tried that?

I would love to know of a neon orange and a nice neon blue. Darkisn neon blue that would look like the blue Leds on Razer products.

What I want is my green mix, a nice royal blue, and my third loop will either be purple or red.

    This is tracerlines chart..
    Has anyone tried TP-3920?

lol i hate to bust your bubble... but give it 4-6 months.

Your tubes will start plasticizing. Then your coolant dye will meld to your tubing, and you'll get stained tubing with what looks like nuclear reactor coolant from the simpsons.

    :X

I gave up on colors because of this. Tubing last longer without any additives and doesnt cloud up or leave mistery gelly to get stuck in your jets/pins.

    I just ordered from Petras:

    (1) Petra'sTech UV Blue/Clear Dye (10mL)
    (1) Petra'sTech UV Red Dye (10mL)

I want to be able to add more UV blue to my water, withough adding more G11 and weakening my loops cooling ability. Petras UV dye should fix me right up. The G11 UV blue from Petras is a light blue color by it's nature. I plan on adding a few drops of red dye to my loop to give it a hint of UV red tint. I am not sure how it will work out, but it will end up being a custom color for sure.

I don't buy into that a few more drops of Petras dye in my loop will gunk my blocks up... Or are we talking other products that will do this?

Sometimes I think people who have posted that UV dye gunked up their block, were actually a victims of flux from the RAD. Some dye's might be getting a bad name because of it?

I'm with you on that! My only complaint about primoflex tubing is that its a serious dust magnet.

    Eddie3dfx,

Yowzers dude.. you better re-cut that tubing at your MCRES and you better use some sort of clips. That's a real potential disaster.

    only for testing purposes
yeah, it takes a keen eye to notice baldy angled tygon cuts!
I was using very bad scissors.
Clamps are on there now, all cuts will be done with a razor blade once I do the third and final loop.

Which dyes seem to provide the best red color? I've heard complaints of a lot of them just giving a lightly red koolaid type of color rather than a deeper one.

Haha.. I was actually going to mention that all NaeKuh needs now are some Hello Kitty stickers, but I didn't want to rudely poke fun of the color.

It's a nice color, if it's what you were going for and like. I personally don't like pink but I got no problems with those who do. =)

Speaking of Pentosin, I noticed the stuff at Petra's is listed as UV and the stuff at other stores isn't. Is there a difference between them?

If you ask windwithme in the motherboard section, to lend me some of his crystal animals, i could make it really cute if you ask me
Maybe drop a crystal panda in the reservoir so it does cartwheels with the flow?

I use straight distilled now. you can see thats my 680i which i havent touched since last june.

I wanted to make purple, instead i got hot pink!

Dont worry about making fun of me, or telling me that im wrong on something. Were all here for fun, and to learn.

I have to agree that plasticizing jelly will suck the life out of your system, that is why it is almost critical from what I have seen to do a flush every so often if you are using an dye.
    Crunchers up and running

i have blue - d-tek visible blue die under uv looks great (half bottle)
Puplre/violent -d-tek visible blue -d-tek passion purple makes a nice violet colour (looks cloudy white under uv ??) (quarter bottle each)
Pink: d-tek passion puple half a bottle.. cloudy pink under uv...

I wish my pink and purple loops actually glowed pink and purple rather than cloudy white... looks great without the uv's on though... go figure
