One question i have is if i can boot into windows and run normal apps at 3.0Ghz (273x11) how do i make the computer stable at that number to run SP2004? i have went up to 1.55 volts but sooner or later it fails.

The answer may lie in the sub-timings of your RAM, Ultra-D is very sweet setting this with, I have one of my own Find out your optimal MAL, RP, DRIVE STRENGTH and DATA DRIVE STRENGTH. May be set somewhat weaker all of them, and may as a side-effect cause stability

Try one at a time, drive strength and data drive strength is important. But also setting TREF is very important, rather then leaving it at auto. Let it say auto and find out what refresh rate it's at from everest or some other software that reads it. Then check out what each TREF in bios means, and set it at the correct microsecond (us) refresh rate. This is a difficult setting on DFI boards, but nonetheless very important for getting the stability a and performance you want.

Boost up the vcore to 1.375~1.4v and it does 2.7 GHz easy
It may be that the memcontroller needs just a little bit more voltage

    2.7ghz or more?!

the problem is that my motherboard (asrock alivenf6g-dvi) doesn't let me to increase the vcore, only decrease

there is a little modification to increase, but that will just make useless the cool n quite to (cool n quit will run with 1.3v or more), and since I let this PC downloading files for most of the time cool n quite is a good.

cool & quiet aint useful when overclocking anyway, it can (and in most cases will) make your system unstable. So if you can mod it, or take up on the advice and test out an unlocked modded bios I would make the suggestion, just do it. These cpu's can handle 24/7 up to 1.45~1.5v for years in most cases, depending on your cooling Clock it till it rocks!

And yeah... 2.7 GHz is in most cases easy with these cpu's. I have still not found one that doesent do that.

I dont know how some are getting 3 ghz stable. I couldnt even boot at 2.99 and have only now been able to run prime 95 stable for 1.5 hours.

I didnt tweek ram at all... only set it to 333mhz.

How do I go about getting higher speeds?

    How am I doing? : D

I believe I can go higher. TRUE w/ S-Flex F, I load at just under 60 on Orthos.

I might get 2.8 on this.

I can get 2750MHz stable on my x2 3800+ and 2800 seems ok, for general usuage but my temperatures are not good - getting new h/s/f soon - probably the best I can find.

btw, cegras, thats a good clock is it on stock vcore? if it is then you should be onto a winner. Some that can do 2.7ghz on stock can do 3000 on 1.5v or so from what I have read (toledo x2s) and this one has done 3006 before on 1.55v for benchmarking and it didnt lock up at all, it just got too toasty.

    cpu-z verification upto 3217MHz - ac cooling freezer pro w/ 80mm fan - and super pi at ~3050 - 1MB ~ 29s

the above si soft sandra arithmetic benchmark was at 2806MHz - it says 2750 for a reason - because I boot the PC up at 2750 (BIOS) and set it to 2800 (Clockgen) as my mobo (EPOX 9nda) doesnt like 1t RAM CPC above 276 htt.

You do know I bought the Aerocool ExtremeEngine 3T, and with the Zalman 9700LED I got 2.8 GHz @ 1.425V instead of 2.75GHz... the temps are not even getting to 40c orthos load, and my mem is really weak when run on a divider, but I got it to DDR466 when set @ 3-4-4-10 1T... and I do know my timings aint the best, but it's UCCC for crying out loud... it's not that bad. I get DDR500 3-4-4-8 1T, but only when run 1:1 with the CPU.

I told you that I believe you can clock your cpu more if you get a better cooler, but I also got 50mhz more without the biggest hazzle on mine only by swapping the case. The one I've mentioned was really sweet I tell you. Lots of headroom for clocking with a cool, noisefree case.
