3.8GHz would be nice. But the law of diminishing returns begins to apply. You will get more points at 3.8GHz. But is it worth the amount of power you're consuming at that speed? Yes, I know this is XtremeSystems. But running stable and error-free while crunching is more important as far as I'm concerned.
I agree..I wanted to see what the chip would do and the little kid in me wanted to see if it would do 4000mhz..
Thats done and I'm happy.
I'm perfectly content to have it run at 3600mhz 24/7 at 54C..
Thats sort of a sweet spot, not too hot, not over stressed.
The chip is at 1.4375v and the memory at 2.0v..

What I have learned is that crunching is a little like putting money in a 401K. Day to day, it may seem like the account is not growing. But over time, it begins to add up. I have an older quad-core that I've run at 3.2GHz for almost a year. Its daily output is respectable. Nothing worth bragging about. Over time, it's generated more than three million points (probably closer to four million by now). This is why it's important to just keep at it. With my daily output I'm not going to blow by people anymore. But I've made it into the top 100 and hope to keep moving up, not so much for my ego, but for the benefit of the team. This is not the 100 meter dash. It's more like a marathon race. The people who persevere will ultimately win.
Oh, I should also mention that quad-core has been running non-stop for a year on a P5B-Dlx, the board that some people think is crap. If you set up a system right and not try to make it do things it was never meant to do, it's amazing how durable hardware can be.

I ain't busted. I'm happy..That is one hell of a system at 3600 and the output at 17K a day is phenomenal..Couldn't ask for better.
And that memory with the flashing lights is cool..
Don't have to check anything, just turn my head, look down the 30ft to the other room and I can see it's running!![]()

That was at idle, and just showed when I grabbed the SS..Under load at 4005mhz coretemp was showing 56-55-55-54
For some reason whenever I use MSnap to grab a SS one core always shows very hot, no matter what machine I do it on..
For that run I had 1.5625v..Memory at 2.2 and at 5-5-5-15
