Primochill Liquid Utopia - worth it?

I've somehow lost my bottle of PT Nuke that I purchased with all my other parts. No clue where it went. My loop is starting to turn colors, and I need to shock it before it gets out of hand. I happen to live in Rochester, which is where FrozenCPU is located (30 minutes down the road). All they carry is that Primochill Liquid Utopia stuff, so i figure I'll pick some of that up. Will it work as good as PT nuke to kill off the gunk?

    uhh..

    kill off gunk?

its too late once you see gunk. :X

You need to reloop, and refill.

Etyl Glycol will work as a antimicrob. You dont always need pt nuke. Im guessing you ran cathods in your loop?

I had some ask me point black what I thought about this stuff when it was first released when I was active on DD's forums.

    My response was this:
They sure do make it sound like utopia, don't they....but that's just a sign of a good marketing dept. Honestly, I really don't know what to think about that stuff at this point.
I'm not sure I like the sound of "PLT" though, sounds like it leaves behind a thin film of "something" (in order to protect your parts), but water wetter does the same thing and it's been show to have a cumulative effect and eventually prevents the parts from doing their job properly.
Until I see dozens of ppl saying "yeah, it's a good product" after long term use, I won't even consider using it, even then, I'll weigh the good and bad points then decide if "the look I want" is worth it. I'd love to have Blood Red in my case right now but none of those "fluids" are worth what I'll get in return (ATM).

I use the red primochill uv dye bomb or whatever utopia they call it. I'd have to say it's been pretty good. Nice colors, easy to mix, no precipitates when mixed with PT Nuke, and my loops is clear of anything living .

Not really sure what it is. First WC build, it's only been I think a week and a half it has been running. Need to find my damn nuke.

    Here's the pictures:

Sorry about the quality, a little messy. It's more of a copperish color than anything else, it seems.

Don't follow - you mean I have cathode lights in the machine? If that's the question, no, none at all.

man, that's looking pretty nasty. I'd clean it all out and get new tubing and fill it with PT nuke and Pento G11 or Liquid Utopia.

Looks like you have a ton of lights in there.... look at your memory modules and all those mobo leds.. it looks like a whole light show inside your case. Are you sure you don't have a case window? Those promote algae like no tomorrow, in addition to CCFLs and LEDs.

It's really not as bad as it looks. Those lights generate almost no light near the loop; the reason it looks so bright is because in the pictures, I'm using flash from the camera, or shining a big light on the whole thing. I did want to put UV cathodes in eventually to make it pretty - if I PT Nuke it at the very beginning, will I be alright, even with the lights? (Also, any advantage to pentosin besides it being blue?)

Guess I'll have to rerun the loop then. Just out of curiosity, if I add a nuke now, how long will it run before performance declines?

Also, since I've got your undivided attention now, a few more questions:

Is masterkleer tubing comparable to tygon? I really don't want to burn another $20ish on tygon tubing unless it's necessary.

Yeah it's really not worth it to waste money on tygon. MK 7/16" is excellent stuff for a fraction of the cost. At the price of MK, you can afford to throw it away and just get new stuff.

Primochill stuff works pretty good I guess. I have ccfls on the bottom of my case and clear tubing with the clear Utopia. Been at it for a month and a half with no build up or discoloration, using Masterkleer btw.

i've used Primochills for my bro's WC'd system...

it foamed at start... but then i was a moron and had the res tilted so that the air got syphoned into the loop... but after a while, say, bout 24 hrs of running the loop, the foam dissappeared.

it foamed more when i used the newer product... the utopia line... the previous line, it did not foam as much... but the concentration of dyestuff was not enough to achieve the "looks"
