Can someone help me...I've been playing around for some time with this board and it's great and very stable...however, I am having trouble going past 500 fsb...I went to 500 easy (500x7) with 1.4475 in the BIOS (1.41 real)...only adjustments made were vcore and vmch (1.56)...I can't even get my sysem stable at 510 with adjsting every setting...what tweaks should I do? I don't think G0 E6850's limit is 500 on the dot.

You really should do that with a multimeter, the monitoring isn't that accurate on mine.

This isn't answering your question, but I can't imagine you NEEDING that freq on your FSB. There is almost no performance gains unless it's synthetic benchmark ... Ok, nevermind

546 but i think i'm being limited by the board now...

i'm gonna try water cooling the NB and trying another bios...

has anyone else been able to bench at 600+ with even 5-5-5 after the beta 12 bios?

it seems like the NB timings are so tight it just won't go...

i was able to pull off a 1M at 7x500 mem at 600 5-5-5 but got a lock up trying to do 32M

Got to take the board out today, so may well have another go.

Like this idea for the VR. Wires maybe not the best to work with though. Tested the ends with a MM and it's fine.

    Noob Alert!!!

IS the volt mod necessary at all? I just want to get to somewhere between 3.6-3.8 with a 6850 for 24/7 use. The board is in the mail for me, but the bummer is that I leave for 4 weeks of vacation next week and won't be able to play around with it at all . I figured I could ask a couple questions in the meantime though. . . . .

You should be able to do that with no mods. You'll just have to make sure you keep an eye on what the voltage actually is vs what you set.

how do you say you have 1.45 set in the bios when your Uguru says 1.45v...can't be!
Look again Ace, the 1.4525 set in bios should also show the same in uguru looking at OC guru voltage settings, the CPU Volts above that page is actually showing 1.36 I think

If you want you can buy my B3 for $255.00 shipped used it for fill in for couple of weeks till my G0 got here when I sold my E6420 to danny on the forum here
Will provide receipt with purchase date and arrival from Mwave and also Arrival date of my G0 so you know for a fact that it was only used for a couple of weeks! I only kept it at 3.0ghz because I knew I was selling it but it does go higher tested at 3.2ghz stable but did not try higher because of selling it I did not think it was appropriate to beat on it you know?

Also talk to danny and ask him about how he likes that E6420 that was a month old that does 3.5ghz that I sold to him for $160.00 shipped and what his thoughts on dealing with me was!

Question to Ace-a-Rue (or anyone else that remounted the heatpipe cooling on this MB for the chipset etc..)

I'm waiting on my IP-35Pro to arrive. And I am planning on remounting the heatpipe cooling on this board as per your guide. However, I don't have much in my inventory for 40mm fans. I do have one 40mm x 20mm. But, it looks like you are using 40mm x 10mm fans. Will a 40mm x 20mm fan be too thick? I am going with the same heat sink (TR 120 Extreme) BTW.

I cannot tell 100% by the pics, but it looks like a 20mm thick fan may not fit very well..?? Possibly on the NB part. But it looks too tight on the PWM part.

I like the 20mm thick fans, as they seem to move a bit more air with less noise. But if they won't fit, then what's the point.

Also I have to add: thanks a lot for all the effort you put into providing some very helpful info! ... and a hats off to Nelly & everyone else that have contributed to this thread as well .. Thanks ya'all
