Slim design - more flow restriction.
If you want slim restriction go for alphacool blocks

    Thats an interesting block zbogorgon.
Did you deliberately black it out to hide what is underneath?

I was wondering what that block was myself. I can see a small EK insignia on it...

if you have a very thin device, top slot could be usable, Eddy also said that all screws will be sinked

Eddy, it's possible to design slimmer blocks without affecting flow. Just consider the delrin tops for this block, they are too thick. The only reason you need this kind of thickness at all is for the fittings, however I've seen blocks that are only thick in the fittings area while the rest of the block is thinner. Also, the copper block can be made slimmer if you widen the channels, which is perfectly possible judging from your picts, there is lots of room.

I think a thinner block is possible; it may not be cheaper or easier to make, but I think it’s possible without extra flow restriction. And think about the advantages, you would save material, cheaper to users and more profit to you, lighter, and the possibility of saving extra PCI-slots.

    It seems plenty appealing

My point was that adding that whole extra assembly to water cool the memory on the back of the card is pretty ridiculous (and it certainly doesn't future-proof it in any way). You aren't likely to see a substantial performance difference between the two models of the block but there probably will be a substantial price difference.
Petra, GDDR4 isn't new, the X1950XTX had it, and it isn't really much cooler, when you run it at like 2.4v like I did it certainly isn't getting cooler.

Adding an assembly to cover the memmory on the GPU sounds like a full cover block to me...
