The more I see this board, the more I like it.
Insane FSB!
The anandtech article yesterday has some interesting commentary on the 2mb vs 4mb cache difference. However the E6600 does give an extra multiplier.Originally Posted by Owen1978
Yeh but if it craps out at 3.6 ghz and the E6300 can reach 3 ghz with def vcore, i think it might be possible to get the E6400 upto 3.4ghz or more! for a cpu that costs £150 that is awesome!Originally Posted by Phosphate

I was looking around on Gigabyte's webpage and found that DQ6 board 'supports quad core CPUs'. How comes DQ6 supports quad core and DS3 and DS4 not? Don't they use the same chipset?
because that is how they are gearing the DQ6 its made for the 'elite' so to speak.
if enough people get the DS3 and if its popular enough they may allow it.
but frnakly right now, on the P5W as far as i know all you need is a conroe bios to make the quad core work so. maybe the DS3 is just unofficially supporting it.
but im guessing there. maybe freecableguy will get a ds3 at some point and try it out.

Would my 6600 es 5 work on this ?
[
yes
the one right above you is a 6300 ES Stepping 5 B1 the same thing the 6600 ES chips are.
and its already been posted they work fine.

But how it works is the question? That means how high you can get the FSB with.
BTW: Has the E6600 4MB Cache or 2MB?

Jeffchen tested his intel press kit(white box) of 6600 4m(B1),also stuck at fsb399,Originally Posted by Drow
so wired, looks the issue limited 4mb l2 overcloking.
The max FSB depends directly from the luck you have when you choose your Cpu.
Dunno if the L2 size is important, we're waiting for results..
Here's 6400 by jeffchen too, same m/b :

i just find that hard to believe dont you hicookie.. i mean seriously..
the cache isnt gunna kill the fsb THAT bad infact the way cpu's are these days the larger cache cpu's clock the same as the smaller ones.
i just find that so hard to believe... did he test that same cpu in another system and get above 400?
im asking if the cpu was flakey or not,,, not just the board.
could it be the lower multi and NOT the cache.. we already know from our AMD64 days that the lower multipliers or lowering the multi yields a higher fsb on many of the AMD chips.... .... ....
i cant drop the multi on my P5W DH not sure wtf the problem is with asus,, hiding the multiplier option but i dont even know if there is a tool in windows to change the multi.. ?

can someone tell me which spec E6300 & E6400 ES Step 5 have?![]()
It's insane how close this board is to the P5W DH clock for clock. The question is, how can the fsb go so high yet not lose out on performance?

there somebody reporting a higher fsb (400+) on this combo E6600+ gigabyte ?
Gigabyte DS3 in stock @ http://www.alternate.nl/html/shop/pr...?artno=GPEG35& , 149 euro
Abit AB9 ( 149 euro ) , AB9 Pro (159 euro ) and Abit AW8D ( 169 euro ) are also in stock @ http://www.alternate.de/html/shop/pr...l3=Sockel+775&
The remodeled Gigabyte boards support up to 600 FBS with a good bios, put that in mind. The only thing I ask to you all is wait for the bios revision until october and see for yourself..
So we might say it is a Giga core inside.![]()
It only has 1 PCIe x16 slot.Originally Posted by Alternate.nl
