A little bump on speed, update on CPU-Z version and slightly less voltage.

I'm testing with a less than worthy CBBID Winnie in a spare rig. I may retest when I get these sticks in my game rig with a better CPU. In the meantime I'll start looking at max speed at CAS 2.5.

Really simple settings. All auto except for major timings and tref of 3120. Seems like CAS 2.5 tops out about the same place as CAS 3. Anyone want to share their detailed bios memory settings for their Infineons?

i'll have to pop out my clawhammer and put the newark back in to get an sPI 32m stable shot, but i got my crucial value up to 263mhz at 3-3-3-8, 2.9v![]()
Got a fan over those memory sticks? No? Well get to it before you kill them
For fans of CAS 2 these sticks go to 230HTT 1:1:

well, it seems that this memory is pretty much limited to ~240mhz. doesn't really matter what timings i choose (although i refuse to do 2t) or what voltage, it will not go any higher stable. the only thing left to do is test each stick individually, which i will get around to sometime soon. i've been working 12 hour days so i haven't really felt like it. regardless, i'm pretty disappointed that it won't even run at spec.

i finally got around to testing the sticks individually tonight. i'm pretty sure (after just about 45 minutes of testing) that some other component is to blame for my poor clocks.
i tried one stick in slot 1 immediately at 250mhz fsb 3-4-4-10 1T at 2.7v, as per spec (lowered my multi to 9x to rule out cpu). after booting and launching prime95, i was only able to do a torture for about 20 seconds before failure. same as with two sticks. so i swapped it with the other stick and tried the same settings. same exact failure speed. tried relaxing the command rate to 2T at 2.75v and with an 8x multi, and it died failed prime exactly as quickly. dropped the fsb down to 240, brought the multi back up to 10x, and put timings at 3-4-4-8 1T 2.7v, and it's rock solid.
i'm pretty sure that rules out the ram as the culprit. it's either my neo2, my winchester having memory controller issues, or more unlikely my audigy2 or raid config (on slots 3&4, so pci locked and therefore likely not causing instability).
i am planning on overhauling my platform around xmas (hopefully a new amd chipset will emerge by then, still supporting ddr), because if i buy a pci-x mobo i'll be forced to buy a 7800gtx with it and i don't have the dough right now.
so just wondering if you guys had any input..
JUST failed prime after 9 minutes. hmmm... time to try 235.

Excuse me, can anyone tell me what's -5B D and Z503?
Thx in advance.
Micron -5B D is the chip type and revision. Z503 is the ending model digits. I only have that on some of the ballistix because it only applies to the latest revision that was recently released. It's just my way of differentiating new ballistix from old ballistix.

duz this thread suggest tht the Ballistix 1GB sticks perform better then the 512MB 1s?

its always luck of the draw... you may get some wonder sticks, or you may get some sticks that dont OC at all. *but* with the new tracers your chances of getting something good are pretty high.![]()

plucked in my 2x 1GB Ballistix PC4000 Tracers L503 dual channel kit seems very easy to figure out on DFI NF4!
This is an easy first run but cpuz shows spd name as noname and not crucial or micron like others have shown in this thread ?
http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=36996
bit faster run with Trc = 8
memtest86+ bandwidth is pretty high for san diego core cpu!
11x 274mhz 3-3-3-8 = 3006MB/s in memtest
10x 280mhz 3-3-3-8 = 3125MB/s in memtest
10x 285mhz 3-3-3-8 = 3181MB/s in memtest
that's like equivalent to 3400-3550MB/s with a venice
Also bagged Major's old 2x 1GB Ballistix singles so will test them out maybe 4x1GB config

I also have a suggestion for the DB, why not include the cpu being used with
the type of memory? Since an FX has a different mem controller than let's
say and 4800X2, that way all of us looking for the best mem. config for our
cpu can just click on it instead of looking through the whole page. Just a
suggestion.![]()
