    Patriot PC5600 DDR1 Memory Review

Patriot Memory PDC1G5600ELK PD5600 DDR Memory Review

At first glance I thought it was a DDR2 review. Nope. I'm sure I've seen OPB run up his sticks to some crazy speeds, albeit at very loose timings and performance may have not been the point, but rather bragging rights. I would have never guessed a company (least of all Patriot) would try to market PC5600 sticks.

The review isn't very good. I'm sure someone around here (hint) could do a better job.

ZipZoomFly has a set for $230.

Sourcing parts for a mildly over clocked abacus.

It's impressive to see DDR700 for DDR1 but with timings like 3-5-5-9 2T, I would personally leave it alone.

Agreed, nice clocks...but the timings just kill it.

I totally agree with you. Still would be nice to see how this stuff performs compared to some nice clocking BH-5 or UTT stuff.

they didn't try to tighten the timings guys...

    only 3-5-5-9 2T was tested

maybe the RAM can do better timings like 3-4-4-8 1T DDR640 or something, who knows?

It does 2-3-2-5 at lower speeds , that looks promising.
Any idea what IC's on the sticks?

    I wouldn't say it's obvious...

    1. No tRCD 2 @ 200MHz
    2. TCCD binned to 350MHz AND selling it for that price would be, let's say, challenging

Cost for a chip isn't the limiting factor. Binning process itself is reaaally expensive.

Where do you think Samsung get all those TCCD's?
    Yes, they bin TCC5.

if they could get it to 2-3-3-5 1t for gig sticks at that speed...
I would have to get a set....

No fair, we don't speak Finish.

What entices me about this ram is it's possibilities with a really good FX chip that has an excellent memory controller. Imagine DDR 1 700 1:1 even with those timings.

I think so many TCCD can do it.

I try to my TCCD do it.But 2T timming will kill it.32M is so slow.

    DDR700 3-5-5-9 2T 350*8

The finnish part was just a small joke, nothing serious

Only those timings theirselves kills the bandwidth, just threw the 2T command rate on the soup too, you have pretty much all the stuff to ruin your bandwidth literally.

I also want to make clear statement here, that I don't have anything against Patriot, they have very good modules out on the market, but this product is far away from their best ones.

Wow. The PCstats article must be reaching a lot of people. 5 pairs at ZZF when I first checked this morning, still 5 pairs available. Lol. Maybe the curiousity factor could not overcome the fact the sticks did not make the advertised specs in the article. Or maybe too many people are hep to the idea 2T is a bandwidth killer. Maybe wait a week and see the price go to < $200USD?

Is the memory spec'd at 2T for PC5600? I thought 2T was a function of the memory controller vs the memory itself.

hahaha, i actually laughed when i saw the timings. patriot is probably having fun binning these sticks

also, who wants to bet that the limitation in the review that prevented ram from hitting rated speeds was the memory controller? time to put these sticks with a good FX
Got a fan over those memory sticks? No? Well get to it before you kill them
