    BFG GTX295 warping on VID-NX295

I recently installed my BFG-GTX295 on the Koolance VID-NX295. I'm using the thinner thermal pads as of now but I may have to change to the thicker pads because I'm getting a warp/bowing on both cards.

Has anyone had that problem with the BFG 295? I', thinking if I change out the thermal pads to the thicker ones I may not get the block/GPU contact as good as using the thinner pads?

Any recommendations, say maybe unscrewing the stand offs a bit?

Also anyone know if the EVGA backplate will fit on a BFG, I'd hate to badge it EVGA when its not but EVGA seems to be the only one that makes the backplate.

    Thanks, Quels

Its as if the block is to thin compared to the faceplate.

Here you can see that the thermal pad isnt touching the chip.

Yeah you will need thicker thermal pads for sure.

I have Koolance blocks on BOTH an Asus branded GTX295 AND BFGTech. No problems at all, I used the grey pads, not the white/pink ones. Which one did you use?

I am using the blue pads (thin pads) white pads are the thick pads.

Obviously I'm doing something wrong. If someone else has used the VID-NX295 on the BFG GTX295. What method did you use? I followed this

EDIT* I'd also really like to know if the EVGA plate will fit on the BFG. Im well over 6K on this build, every step/info is from this forum. I'm so close, just waiting on product to come back in stock and on MM but thats a story all its own.

I have the same problems with my EVGA GTX 295s - both of them. I have been considering RMAing the Koolance blocks because the assembled card + waterblock is ~ .060" thinner than with the stock heatsink. You can plainly see the PCBs warping at both ends of the card, where the fan used to be, and where the PCI bracket bolts on.

    EDIT
BTW I tried both thicknesses of thermal padding, and it didn't help a bit.

You could shorten the spacers on the inner end and remove the screws on the bracket end make spacers to go between the card and the bracket . Then reinstall the screws .
Thicker thermal pads won't solve your issue .
    j
OP you are not doing anything wrong . The components on the boards are thinner than what the card they measured originally was .

Awsome good to know. Hmmm I may try and contact Koolance. If their block isn't build for what they advertise I say a refund should be in order.

Hey guys, I contacted Koolance last night after posting here. Their reply:

"We have only seen this issue two other times, it appears to have been a change made in the cards design as many of these blocks have been sold without an issue. Currently we are considering solutions for the affected customers, this could entail replacing the mid acrylic with a thicker piece, or supplying a different PCI bracket and support screws for either end."

Hope this helps, you may want to contact them directly.

I'm getting a Heat Killer block for my 295 after this Summer and I'm wondering if I need to do anything to avoid warping?

I read over on the eVGA forums that there are different revisions of the Dual PCB 295 and some people claim some of the components even changed.

Yeah, I've RMAed 2 cards, and I know they definitely changed the design of the VRM, on the backside where it sticks through the card... Must have had a bunch of them fried or something.

Interesting, I wasn't aware it was the actual VRM, that is big news and could effect software voltage tuners.

I had my GPU1 go out on me where even during Single GPU mode I would crash and my GPU1 clocks would all read 0.8mhz across the board. eVGA felt like this was a definite sign of a dieing GT200b.

Waiting on my card to get back now.

I feel your pain, after waiting for each RMA. I might have said that incorrectly, I actually meant the VDDC/slaves, you know the 4 chips right near where the fan is, they come through the back of the card.

Can you link to those threads on evga? I couldn't find them with a search. Thanks

This is the only one I could find, it's actually my thread for my RMA and 0.8mhz curse:

    http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.asp?m=...1&key=

There is only a single post from someone who said their VRM design is different, but I have read others mention it in other threads, I just read the boards too much to find the exact thread.

Well, basically what I have to say is what I already told bakeshow. If you're having this problem you can submit an RMA, but I hope to have a solution shortly
