All those tubes curving into the reservoirs gives it a bit of a Giger touch.

Funny you should see that. I like Giger's biomechanical art and have a couple of his books...or did. But really that's more Darth Beavis' specialty

Got the res lighting done...or part of it. I need to see how it looks with the colored Fluid...which I will mess around with tomorrow.

Going to start on the sub base that will jack the rig up a touch to let the rad breathe and make a home for the underlighting kit.

Getting ready to run the dye through the loops

Using small amounts (3ml) of dye at this point

Protected the rig in even of a leak

While that churns I start the sub base

    Patterns from.22" acrylic

The cradle mounts up on the lower rails like this

and will fuse to the base plate which rests on rubber feet.

    Some 15" cathodes for underlighting

    Gluing up the parts

    Glued and feet mounted

    That's the effect.

    Lights are removable

    Controls for sound reactive inverter

Clips to secure base to rail

Detail of lighting for nose cones

Detail of the loop with dye

    Light effects

    More soon

Oh, that's sweet! (Enjoyed the latest vid too.) I didn't see the bottom mods comin' at all - visuals are cool enough by themselves, but nice way to open up the airflow to the bottom rad as well.

Does the Feser black just start out kinda purply but then get darker? In the Detail of lighting for nose cones" photo it looks very black.

Nice to see a nice red red too!

It reminds of of India ink. Looks black until diluted then looks purple. I may add more dye. Currently running in the loop with a jumpered PSU. I want 24 hours at least before I attempt to light off the board.

    Ready for first run.

There are two ways to fill the beast. Tilt the entire case onto it's ass...or detach the res and tilt it upright.

RE heatshrink length: to each their own.

Got the rig up in the house now to do final testing. Everything appears to be in order for the initial powering up.

Here's a last minute change: locatig the GFX card in the top most slot. Not a big deal.

It just clears the MCW30 waterblock

Had to modify the mounting hardware but nothing really to it.

Got the trim panels 100% done.

The loop looks better with the card up top anyway.

    Glad that's done.

    Mmmmmm long heatshrink: me likey

    All closed up.

    Looks like a wrap.

I like this Feser Dye: very rich.

There it is beside my SkullTrail rig. Makes my Soldam case look small.

Now that it is off the bench it looks even better to me

    A final touch...

Well if I did my job right this baby should light off the first time I touch the power button...

    Really nice build, congrats!
    I have some questions...
When you tilt the entire case back, the plexi foot with the cold cathodes doesn't break? because it looks like it can hold the case in the vertical, but not while tilting, looks like its going to bend or break, do you take it off?
The hoses on the back should be simetrical, but thats just my little simetry devil inside my head...
I kind of didn't like the wiring of the leds, I would suggest you using smd leds, whici are way smaller and you could pass some near transparent wires... or thin film... but thats a lot harder to do and i don't know if there are smd uv leds... Great Ideas you had tough.

    Congratulations, very nice build

So hows it going with booting up and all? Did it work the first time the power button got pressed?

Why not change the top tube to the bottom nipple so that the tubes dont have to cross each other. Could even use some sort of nice tube holder to kinda stack the pairs of tubes.

    Amazing case though.

There is a reason the tubing is routed that way. And that picture is not of the final routing.

That is how it looks right now.

The lower nipple is the supply for each pump the top the return. Internally the tubing has a certain flow to minimize the "crowding" of the window/HW.

Not going to change anything...but I appreciate your comment.

Nothing spectacular in the benchmarks: just proofs that the machine is working properly.

Temps are good: all the above info was derived with the fans trimmed to low for quiet running.

    Sorry I missed your post.

I pick the entire case up and rotate it first then set it down. You are correct the feet are not meant to bear weight except when the case is completely upright. The grab bars make manipulating the case a lot easier than some of the ones I have played with.

When I plumb a loop I look for one primary thing: optimal sweeps for the point to point route. Secondary is the symmetry or any other aesthetic.

For instance I do not have a "look" in mind and then try and make the tubing go there...I want the shortest runs with the least curvature that still leave enough play to service the equipment.

The reservor rack has to be able to flip up out and back 270 degress aprox. and that means the tubing needs to accomodate that without kinking or straining the fittings.

Before I mated the loop to the reservoir I carefully trimmed each triplet of tubes to the same lengths. Not just for looks though...but to ensure that the tubes are not going to kink.

Tubing has a natural curve from storage/manufacture and you need to work with that or you can create problems later...twisting something so it "looks" cool may later cause the tube to collapse or worse loosen the fitting it is clamped onto.

I really do think about all of this stuff...and on this build I have had a couple of months to really study it. Not saying I cannot learn or improve but I have definitely put thought into the loop and am completely satisfied that it is exactly the way I want it.

Very good Cyberdruid, I think you're right with the tubing, you really have to care about that, otherwise that could be transformed to a mega mess in a matter of time.
Congrats for the build, its really beautiful and looks very professional!

    It's a wrap.

Although I might have to put a red cathode behind the latch bar up top in the chassis..it's really a shame not to see all that hardware...
