i lowered the cpupll a few notches more and found stability at even lower voltage .. but 1.7v caused a no post(and auto bios flash) for me

seems a little too good to be true. i needed 1.45v for a stable run at 5.0ghz now i only need 1.38v

ill try it disabled cpupll overvolt and manually set it to 1.86 . see if i get the same results

BTW, whats yup with Load-Line Calibration Level 2?

Seems like a never ending loop of vicious restarts.

newer bioses should address it as it wasnt wortking properly but its overvolting too much imo so i stick to Level1. I think a little be of overvolting during load is good for normal OC as you want the CPU to idle at lower temps if you can manage and shoot up when it needs extra vcore, i find in my setup UD5 level1 works pretty good with bios set similar windows idle and then about 0.02-0.03v higher under load or so

Update: Passed a 3rd tougher cold boot which had the machine sitting for 10 minutes powered off. Man i think this is it. Well see if it will fire up properly when i get back from work in 8 hours - im excited now !
    Fingers crossed it holds

hey flesh killer OC dude wow

hey CN so you dont need to use PLL overvoltage for 5GHz? i assume you enable it for higher clocks

I only need it auto/enabled to run the multi's that wont boot.... it appears to make no stability difference for me. I havent 100% tested but I think I need it to boot x53 upward.

    hello all,

i have troubles with flashing my UD5:
QFLASH with F6C/F6D : invalid bios image !!
FLASHSPI F6C/F6D : invalid bios file !! i use USBkey with DOS boot and flashspi

and when i flash with @bios ( please don't beat me :d ) : after one reboot : BACK UP bios with F2 because checksum error

    any idea ?

    the solution i find

@bios with F6D and backupbios with F6d too using ALT + F12 at startup

another issue when i use load line calibration lvl 1 or 2 it is not possible to run windows , i have infinite reboots ....

Unfortunately it still does it... Even at 46 multiplier with the same voltages for 4.9 ghz stable in prime 95 smallFFTS (4 hrs), memtest ( 1hr), SuperPi 32M, LinX and Linpack all stable. Just now i have changed the bios to F6d with @BIOS from windows 7(turned off kaspersky completely before i ran the @BIOS) and set the XMP profile 1 from the mobo for the memory. It seems the Dynamic VID is now working with this bios, but im still using LLC 1. I have set Core voltage to 1.355 + LLC1 and turned off all the other stuff , multi is it at 48. Everything fired up properly. Hopefully it will cold boot. Thats the only problem ffor me for now, the cold boot - everything else is running perfectly awesome once its running.

ps: 1.355v + LLC1 - this gives me the 4.9 ghz stable i mentioned up there.

Same thing with F6d... When i shut down the mobo it double boots, when it double boots than everything is at defaults. Even when i loaded Optimized Defaults, the mobo double boots ?! I also updated the secondary BIOS chip to F6d and it still double boots... Why is it shutting off by itself even with optimized defaults after i cold boot it ?

    ###### REVELATION #########

Dinos22, If you could ask GB to comment on this I would appreciate it.

Going to investigate this a bit more but for the time being try this & let me know how you get on.

If you clock from BIOS & get a stable clock using the very minimum vcore to do say 20 runs of linx..... fire that clock back up & lower your vcore from ET. The above clock needs 1.51v set in BIOS to run Linx but as you see you can dramatically reduce vcore from ET & then run LinX & it will pass!!!!

    I also notice my GFlops for the above clock go from about 80 @ 99.8BCLK to 82 @ 99.9 & 85 @ 100 or 1002 in BIOS...... I cant run 1002/100 I get a 101 error every time in Linx.

    Job done

    i7 2600K @ 5.2GHz HT On SP1

The reason I could not get the 100BCLK was down to RAM, my RAM is/was tested @ 2133 8,10,8,26 1T 1.64v & 2133 9,10,9,26 1T 1.5v but the last .02 of BCLK from 1000/99.8 ~ 1002/100 rams up memory performance quite a bit requiring a lot more vDIMM. I have dropped back to 9,10,9 & now it needs 1.58 vDIMM.

What kind of temps are you guy's finding to be the conservative max?

On my hottest core I'm getting ~52c under LinX, which seems good. But this is without any OC'ing yet. So I dunno what to expect.

Sorry, I know you guy's are probably past this point and don't feel like talking the basics, but I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere yet.

Really depends on how much vcore your pushing, Usually 1.5+ is when you start hitting the threshold.. I run my 2600 @ 4.5 24/7 but can also hit 5.0ghz with 1.42 but really no performance boost in RL performance other then benches, usually hit around 73C under LinX..

Another thing I find funny is AMD/Intel would snipe any of our Moms on a grocery run if it meant good quarterly results, and you are forever whining about what feser did?

    73 huh. Good to know.

I've been out of the loop since 775 to some extent, so I wasn't sure what kind of pain these chips can deal with. I guess they're not too fragile though.

have you tried clearing cmos button (with the power supply plug unplugged/psu rocker switch turned off?), then resetting all of your settings back to what you usually use?

Does this help the cold boot problem?

The Intel datasheet is listed on post 2 of this thread ref temps etc. Personally I am happy with 80oC max in LinX bearing in mind LinX runs 10oC hotter than anything I'm likely to ever run in daily life.

P.S always interested to see an overclock... everyone has a different take on what works what they are happy with so would be interesting to see how you get on working up the MHz scale.

    @Falkentyne

Do you happen to have a PCI card on the motherboard ? I'm theorizing here that the cold boot issues might be connected to the PCI slots somehow.

@scccm seems to be with a PCI card. Which slot did you plug your card to and do you have issues when you shut down the computer and boot up later ?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Thats the only problem ffor me for now, the cold boot - everything else is running perfectly awesome once its running.

ps: 1.355v + LLC1 - this gives me the 4.9 ghz stable i mentioned up there.
i am discussing something with bios guys about 21.33 ratio, hoping that was it and will let you know how it goes as i have been able to see some coldboot related issues with 21.33 multi with some messing around i did recently

I cant run 1002/100 I get a 101 error every time in Linx.
i used ET in windows in my quick OC video and really i did not notice that behaviour so it might be something that happens with your system, maybe others can try this too donno

I've got the same coldboot issue, not running 21.33 multi though.

I'm using Corsair Vengeance CL9 and it won't coldboot at all, OC or not.

Not sure if it's memory related, will check some other ram later today.

Hey Dinos22, I know the GB guys & galls are busy but could you ask if they plan on making a 1:9 memory ratio / DDR2400 when you/they get a sec.
