Performance wise, I am not waiting for any surprises. Prices are good, TDP is not as bad as it was "hyped" to be, these cards seem to be somewhat decent.
Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

It seems that TDP will be 215W for 470 and 250W fot GTX 480 not so scary and epic fail...
And also it seems that until 6 april the stock will be very low...almost inexistent...and the cards will be overpriced by sellers in some countrys like Romania.
wow... the past 6 months of waiting wasnt enough for you?
you want to wait and hope for a miracle for another 6 months?
man, you sure have a lot of faith... i hope nvidia knows how lucky they are to have you as one of their customers

yeah perf looks to be about the same as 5800s, but if you ask me, that in itself is quite a surprise considering how much bigger gf100 is... it has more bandwidth, more texturing power, more shader power, more tesselation power, more everything... but its barely faster. that doesnt mean its bad though, the performance is very good and more than enough for most people. its just really unefficient from the looks of it...

about the tdp... not that bad?
depends on how much power the cards consume... if its close to their tdps, then its very bad... it would mean that a 470 consumes as much as a gtx295 but performs notably worse. the last single gpu card that consumed that much power (200W) was the 2900xt...

    btw, check this out!
it looks like at least one person was caught in the steam hardware survey with a gtx480, so it shows up in the stats now

    I'm not agree saaya, GTX 470 is less than GTX 280 (235 W) and GTX 295 (289W)

Next I'd like to see at which resolutions and eye candy settings the most difficult parts of various games are fluently playable with GeForce Fermi versions.

Would it be a fair comment to say.
The reason behind nvidia having such a strong NDA and being so tight lipped with there information on the 470s/480s, has alot to do with the fact that ati where able to keep the development
of eyefinity a secret from nvidia right up to the card being released?

It just seems to me like nvidia are making the ponit that they can keep things on the down low as well if they choose to.

cool, thanks! now that looks better for the 480...
    but farcry2, farcry2, farcry2.... and no aa...
ive said it before, far cry2 is old... and its a game you play once and thats it... it gets repetitive so fast even when you play it the first time...

nothing about crysis? i thought thats where the 480 pulls ahead notably as well?

Yeah, those benches look more in line with what I expect.

But I will be very cross if I can't get a 512sp part after the launch. I've been waiting for this card since last November for God's sake, and I won't settle for the slimmed down version!

If those benches are true, then my initial thoughts of "beware 5970" are becoming a reality

Let's see how 32X CSAA anti aliasing performs on GeForce Fermis.
Though instead of aa I prefer to see new games with accelerated jittered sampling support.
    It looks great.

    It looks great.

In a gaming environment 32X CSAA would not hold much water after all its CS after all. AMD's SSAA is much better and needs more power and cant be used in most games.

But as several sites have already reported AMD's SSAA to not offer much of a difference over normal AA i dont expect 32x CSAA to do anything that great either.

The point of the matter is unless you have a huge huge tele/screen 32x CSAA or SSAA would do squat.

Before anyone points out no Nvidia did not have true SSAA and no nhancer's SSAA mode was not a proper one. SSAA is better than CSAA because SSAA is raw upscale downscale process something like what happens when you see 1080P on a 720P monitor and CSAA is about refining the render again and again.
