The Devs need to show some back bone like Crytek. Hypothetical situation: Crytek is told to screw the pc segment of their game. Well Crytek responds very bluntly screw you and jumps ship to another producer.

You're taking this as a real threat against IW with that text, rather than a boycott looking for them to realize people does not agree with their decision.

As arrogant as that comment is, unfortunately he's right. Even if the petition gets 10 times more signatures that's still less then 10% of their probable sales. A big publisher like activision can easily write that many people off as the unprofitable, high maintainence, fringe.
The only way we can change these companies is to vote with our wallets. They won't change right away, but once it starts to affect their long term profits they will have to take notice or slowly die.
