I am voting with my wallet on this one, and I really hope anyone who is against the further consolization of PC games does the same.
If you just HAVE to play the SP campaign, maybe wait a few weeks? I want them to feel something on the bottom line for this slap in the face. *shrug*
yeah that's not right to wish him death.

I don't think this is IW's fault. I think it's activision.

I didn't preorder this game and I wonder what can I do to show support. I uninstalled COD4 and COD:WAW from my system. Maybe people should also boycott these games. Like one day boycott on all COD4 servers just to show people are not putting up with this .
I'm going to wait a while to decide if I buy this or not. If I made a pre-order, that would certainly now be cancelled. I loved cod4 and played it a lot. Its crazy for iw to seriously think we would just pretend that all is right with taking our choices away. We're not mac users or consolers, its a fundamental principal of our hobby. I want to choose every aspect of my server, matchmaking will never, ever cut it for me.

IW responds to Modern Warfare 2 server snafu
Author: Joe Martin
Published: 21st October 2009
Infinity Ward has responded to fans who have begun petitioning the developer in protest against the new IWNet matchmaking system announced for Modern Warfare 2, which removes support for clan matches and dedicated servers.
Infinity Ward's comments come in a confusingly aggressive article that stand firmly alongside the developer; "This may shock some gamers with advanced persecution complexes -- this move was not made to tweak the noses of the PC community," writes GI's Adam Biessener.
An online petition against Infinity Ward's lack of support for dedicated servers and the roll out of IWNet has gathered more than 100,000 signatures since the system was first announced on Monday.
"We're just prioritizing the player experience above the modders and the tuners," said Infinity Ward's Jason West, who says the team got a huge amount of feedback from players who said they couldn't find good servers to play the original Modern Warfare on because of modders, skill disparities and cheaters.
"We thought maybe it would be cool if the fans could play the game," laughed West.
Infinity Ward stands by the idea that IWNet will offer the best experience for the majority of gamers and says that this, not piracy fears, were the main reason for the changes

Not meaning to sound like I am thread crapping or being a troll, but correct me if I am wrong... ISN'T THE PC PLATFORM SUPPOSED TO BE THE HOME FOR FIRST PERSON SHOOTERS?!?!?!
SURELY WE (PC GAMERS) SHOULD HAVE FPS GAMES CODED FOR OUR PLATFORM BEFORE THEY ARE TONED DOWN/CONSOLISED FOR OTHER PLATFORMS AS THE PC IS AND ALWAYS HAS BEEN THE PREMIER PLATFORM FOR THE FIRST PERSON SHOOTER!!!!
Dedicated Servers, and a Server Browser for Game Type, Ping, location, etc SHOULD ALWAYS be part and parcel of any PC Game which has a multiplayer facility and don't get me started on how it is an absolute MUST for FPS based games.
Shame on Activision and Infinity Ward.
John
Stop looking at the walls, look out the window
IWNet is P2P gaming where games are run from a players PC, this is from 2 different IW staff members who posted on the forum.
Maximum of 16 players and the host server is chosen by assessing the machine specs and connections of the various players are online. This alone essentially makes a mockery of the whole casual gamer statement as its the hardcore players who generally have the better rigs and connections and are going to get the zero ping from being the host.
So instead of making it a better experience from the casual gamer you are going to give the person with the best setup the best performance.
