If you remove the IHS of the CPU and post the die shot, all the doubts would be clear up.

it's OK. you don't need to. Benchmarks would prove the cache being unlocked.

Thank you for the preview chinook, is it possible for you to measure the power consumption with L3 enabled vs. disabled?

Thanks Chinook!.. very interesting. Looking fwd to L3 comparison!

Can you do more benchmarks with and without L3 PLEASE?? (if you have them handy of course)

    x264 encoding bench
    Fritz chess
    3dmark06

AND , why the 1600Mhz NB freq? are you sure that's not a result of BIOS not supporting the CPU? Might want to crank it back up to 1800 at least more likely 2000Mhz Like the Athlon II though and re-run benches.

The info I've had is that there will be an L3-less Propus mask, but perhaps these very early chips are indeed just L3 Disabled.

    will do mate
i'm pretty sure the NB frequency is the right one and not some early bios product.

Yeah, i will get it up to 1800-2000, should be fine with that, but a very interesting thing about the bios is that it was sent by biostar. the 1st bios that we used to unlock the L3 was quickly dropped off their site after our mail, and now there's only one variant that does not unlock the cache..
luckily we saved the "good" bios
All in all i tend to think there won't be 2 different lines of these chips - one from deneb with L3 disabled and a fresh new die without the L3.

    As promised, tests with L3

    everest cache and memory

    winrar

    spi 1M

    spi 32M

    wprime

    cinebench single&multi thread

3dmark vantage - there is a difference here at the GPU score because we forgot that last time we overclocked the 4670

    occt

    temp readings

We're planning for more tests in the weekend, because work is taking most of our time now.
x264, fritz chess and 3dmark 06 will be added, as well as overclocking potential and performance.
