    I guess the Moray area would be a nice place to go and visit, but to live here isn't so good... there are lots of :shady people in Elgin!!!

    I don't live in Elgin city, I stay in a small coastal village just outside Elgin called Burghead, I moved here from Fochabers about 5 months ago, and I love it... the scenery is beautiful here...

    Anyway, back on topic, all I really can do now is wait for the results of Scans proper testing to see whether the board plays up or not, if it does, then that will be great because they will ship out a replacement for me, but if it doesn't cause instability for them, then I will set it up again once it gets returned to me and see if I figure out why it wont run stable for me, and if I still dont get anywhere then it will get shipped off to Gigabyte to see what they say, and I will also return my CPU to OcUK so that they can give it a more thorough test to make sure I don't have a bad CPU... as they were quite willing to have me send it back to them again after I called up to complain about the tests that they ran....

    This is how much I was able to push my bclk to.
    I think i can get it running at higher bclk with little more time. My main hdd died in the middle of this 228.3bclk run. So will be back to benching in couple of days.

    hi guys, well i been playing with it but im quite new at this so i would like to know if possible if anyone could answer me if i should be worried with it or not.
    i checked my board voltages and i got some yellow leds on well i dont intend to push much from it at least for now because i dont have a decent cooling, and because im not pushing it that much i dont want it in stress by oc mistakes,(if that is possible to happen ).

    http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/5146/boardvoltage.jpg

    thanks and sorry about my english.

    Well, that's me just off the phone to the people at Scan to see what the results were with their overnight Prime95 Blend test, and they have told me that their was no faults found...

    I am at a complete loss now as to what the problem is with my system, I really dont know what else I can do now??

    Gigabyte have said they can quite easily test the mobo for me again, and they also asked me to ship my RAM and CPU along with my board, but if the techs at Scan have ran Prime overnight and had no problems, I dont see the point in sending it off to someone else for them to tell me the same thing!!!!

    And I also have to pay Scan another £20 just to get my mobo back... I am really P****D off about this, because I now have a system that wont work for me....

    Can anyone here suggest something else that I could try that I haven't already mentioned in one of my previous posts, because I personally think that I have tried everything I possibly can, and each time I have had the exact same results...

    Did you ask Scan if they changed ANY settings on the board (BIOS) before testing??

    I asked the lady on the phone last week what settings they were using, and she told me that they were using optimized defaults in the BIOS and the XMP profile enabled on the RAM to run @ 1600MHz...

    I am just about to send them an email asking if they can send me the report that the technician sent them...

    I don't know why they can't let me talk directly to the technician, as I personally think that a lot of what I am telling them over the phone is being lost in translation, because it took me about 5 telephone calls in total to get them to test the mobo overnight, even though I asked for this to be done every single time I talked to them!!!

    I am completely lost now, I could go and buy a new mobo next week, but I really dont want to pump anymore money into this system as it has already cost me over £1800 in total, and if I were to buy another mobo, and set it up only to find that the problems are still present, I will probably end up going insane and throwing all my hardware through the nearest window!!!

    It is a pity there isn't anyone else I know of in my area with a similar system to me so that I could test all the hardware out on their rig, isn't there anyone on here from the North East of Scotland that owns an i7 system that would be willing to let me take my gear over to their house to test it???

    I would even pay someone a little bit of cash to allow me to test my gear on their system... I guess this is a long shot, but it is the only other thing I can think of trying...

    This is what I read about that on the tweaktown forums by the person that modded UD5 bios :
    To have all the options back, load bios F5 first, and do not load optimized settings, load F8b modified after that, for some reason, the modified one looses some settings when the normal flash procedure is used.
    I'll try that on my board when I get home in an hour and post my results

    Sounds really mad mate......not good at all!!

    Before throwing more money at it, I would consider sending it to Giga along with the RAM and CPU (as they requested) to give the whole platform stress and compatability tests.

    *update*

    Only way that worked for me to get all the multipliers :
    - install F5 bios (from the gigabyte site) by pressing END at the splash screen.
    - enter bios
    - press F8 to load the flash utility
    - load the modded F8 bios

    Enjoy AHCI, faster boot and all the normal multipliers

    Is it better to do the overclock through the BIOS or is Easy Tune fine too?

    Hi sunn, I noticed that you have lowered CPU PLL voltage from 1.8 down to 1.3v.. does this not cause instability?

    Or does this help reduce heat??

    I am just curious that's all, as I am having lots of problems with my i7 rig and I am trying to find out as much stuff about the BIOS as possible...

    ::edit::

    Off Topic, is anyone else getting this annoying popup on here today, asking for a username and password to be entered??

    It is happening each time I post, or view a different thread on here, it is driving me nuts!!!

    I was having other problems before with it locking/restart with LinX and was playing with the PLL to see what the effect was

    Not with those settings above (similar but less vcore)

    1.84 = lock
    1.8 = lock (15s)
    1.7 = restart (6m)
    1.6 = lock (24m)
    1.5 = restart (15s)
    1.4 = lock
    1.3 = restart (28m)

    after raising vcore and vtt more it 'seemed' stable but accidentally not in day to day use

    sunn - why not set your bclk to 200, thus allowing you to set your UNCORE and RAM to the required 3200 and 1600 respectively (ruling that out), and all you have to do is play with the multiplier to get to your desired speed.
    Have you also tried disabling all the CPU features such as speedstep??
    It may also be worth enabling Load Line Calibration to help correct some of the vDroop you might be experiencing!?

    Hope this helps
