Took my Q6600 to new heights!

Okay, well where do i start..i guess first off you guys are probably gonna hate me for not making sure its prime stable, but i wasn't worried. i was just overclocking for fun. and that's what its all about right?

anyways i'm in love with windows 7 for its overclock friendly-ness. on vista i had a hard time booting 3.9ghz with 1.57v. with w7 i could do 3.9ghz with 1.49v!

long story short my main goal of the night was to get it to the coldest temperatures i could, and see if i could manage to beat the octo core system in the CPU queen test for everest. lets let the pictures speak for themselves.

By the way, this RAM was only 35$ when i bought it new...my mushkin kicked the bucket.
    A-Data Vitesta Extreme Edition ddr2 800 4-4-4-12 :P

those were the temps for at idle. the CPU jumped up to about 20C on all cores at load. still, it was really nice.

crap i just remembered i never saved a cpuz validation file....at that clock do you think its worth going into the database?

i guess i should mention i maxed out @ 4236mhz, and didnt weild any higher of a score for everest which made me sad. i was so close to getting it.
i was using 1.6v in bios with 102% addition. it was right there!!!

theres always next time i suppose..

Yeah that's pretty nice for a Q6600. Worth putting in the database.

Air very cold air and I think i got frostbyte.

xdrift0rx you can give it a little bit more voltage, It wont die and you should be able to complete a PI 1m.

Awesome work to chew* as well

The air was about 5C for my 4.1GHz, i tried 4.2GHz but my P5E couldn't handle it .

yeah i was impressed with it too cause i know the 680i's are known for not being able to get a high FSB.

I think you got a sub 12 second PI in that chip and on a 680i to boot.

how close is DICE cooling compared to LN2? i dont think i can get LN2 easily but DICE you can get from like supermarkets, right? only other thing i would have to do is try to find/ make a pot.. i'd be willing to try it.

DICE isn't close to LN2 but its enough you could get a good bit higher clock then on water

I don't know what your mobo is capable of, but I know that on my Maximus Formula 1, my max FSB on my Q6600 is about 470. On my former Maximus Formula 2, it's 510
It gives me the need to play with my Q6600 too
I've got the same VID than chew*

Really nice FSB @ that CAS 4. Nice RAM too!!! I've just got some G.Skill PI PC6400 CAS4, what is your voltage on your RAM?

This is a quick test with my former MF2 & some Crucial PC5300 Cas3:

On this pict, it wasn't WC yet. I had to modify my NB's contact (and BTW, yes, I put a MCW-30 on it) . Once done, my MF2's NB was about 37°
Q6600 performs very well with Intel P45 in term of FSB.

@xdrift0rx: Thx. I hope my new set of RAM will do this well too
But on my MF1, my Q6600 doesn't like high FSB. I think i had to desynchronize it
(I really like your wallpaper )

@-Acid-: Nice Q6600!!! Guess you have the right cooling

Just fun, my Q6600 on my MF1:

    4231Mhz here

Weird how we all getting roughly the same, this was with -4c air. I think NB is the deciding factor here.

You should try the adata you were using. Sit a fan over them and increase timings to 5,5,5,15 or 18 and see how high you can take them with more volts..........just for fun obviously
I have the standard adata ddr2-800 modules and they go over 1100mhz easy with 2.3v

atleast that way your gskill's are safe.
