honestly, i regret lapping the cpu as it did not help my thermals much. adding that pa120.3 will drop temps the most. i would recommend using both radiators before the cpu as that was what i found to be the best setup. i bet you will see a drastic drop in temps after that. plus, if you have both radiators, you will NEED a new case to house them both![]()

I had to drop to 6x for 525+ to 533. it looks like drop in clock but made up for it big time in FSB and RAM. If you have good DDR800, it should get you 1000~1066 on 2.22v and 5-5-5-15(18). For me 532x6 was stable. w/ RAM in 1:1 DDR1066.
I think I had to go over barely 1.51v (actual). 515x6 was cool for 1.488v. I heard of some on this chipset going to 550, but I never tried yet. I dont even have it anymore.

Damn Grnfinger, it looks like my new QX9650 is in the same boat as your quad.
Ridiculously high temps for reasonable volts.
I've reseated 3 times and still the same BS. I can get 4.0GHz no problem at 1.38v, but the temps are over 70*!!!
I need to find out what the problem is.

Hey, I'm back, sorry to clog the thread with redundant questions but I'm having a lot of trouble searching.
I found out where I can apply a multimeter to measure the Vdimm, but I was wondering if anyone could show me where to measure some other values. I'm especially interested in Vcore, and Vnb, but I'd really like to know where to measure pretty much anything else. I think this information should definitely be in the first post.
Secondly, I've been trying to use the Asus AI Suite but if I use the AI Gear feature my computer just hangs. That's a stock speeds and auto voltage. It's not very important but it would be nice to be able to switch between performance and power saving without rebooting.

On NewEgg its only a $30 diffrence, at that cost I would get the X48 for the better bios without having to flash a Maximus to a Rampage
Are you useing XP or Vista?
I have never liked any kind of OS based overclocking tools, something about useing anything that uses something Microsoft made to make changes to your hardware gives me the shivers.
Wish I could help there, but I have no clue where to even start. I personally trust whatever cpuz / bios info tells me.

Wow, looks like ASUS finally answered our request for quad core GTL, well on the P5E3 x48 at least. Any word if it is available for thrue Rampage Formula and if so can the hack provide same for our MF SE as well?
Any word on S3 function on BETA v1006 yet, anybody?
I am waiting for an ROG on X48 w/ DDR3 if not I will just spring for the P5E3 Premium (DDR3). I think I can beat my my Gigabyte P35 of its 480x8 in 1:2 of DDR3-1920. P5E3 is sporting 2000MHz out the box so 2100 isn't so far now.

I've just got a new P5E in my system. Does the Rampage Formula BIOS help with vDroop issues? That would be the main reason for me to cross-flash.

How can I use ADH connectors?
In maximus manual there is not any explanation. WHY?
Also there isn't about front panel audio connectors (supreme fxII).
Anyone can give me help?
Thank you.
I think your right, cant get 2 rads in a Thermaltake Soprano![]()
Would there be any benifit in changing my loop order now with the 220 rad?
Current loop is pump>CPU>NB>GPU>RAD>RES
Comments or suggestions.....
Let me know if you improve temps any, this is getting to me, my ambiant air is 18c and the quad is idle at 52c on 1.45 volts![]()
You might get a little improvement with pump>RAD>CPU>NB>GPU>RES as the pump adds a little heat to loop.
XP 32-bit.
I don't know if it's just marketing-speak but ASUS' says that AI Gear "accesses all of the motherboards power saving features." This makes me wonder...do I have access to all of the power saving features unless I use AI Gear? I wish this software a.) didn't crash, b.) didn't suck and c.) had some actual documentation.
I would like to know the answer to this, too. I've been digging around but it's hard to find out exactly what the benefits would be of converting my P5E.
------
One more question, I'm thinking of upgrading my RAM from 2x1GB. Is this board more comfortable with 2x2GB or 4x1GB? I would probably be running ddr2 800MHz ram, CL4, somewhere in between 400-440MHz in 1:1 timing.

The reason i asked is look at this review a guy wrote on the EGG is there compatabilty trouble with it at all
DOA
Pros: blinking lights are beautiful
Cons: Does not work with a X38 board
Other Thoughts: Be aware these sets have compatibility problems with X38 chipset, just search on Google for that. I have an ASUS Maximus Formula and there is no way I can make this memory work. Lots of error on Memtest86+ no matter what frequency, voltage or settings I use...

Hey...something i always wondered...
Is there a way to retreive information from the temperature sensors of the harddrives when they are in a RAID array?
Da_maniaC's Rig (Eclipse) |Client / Server port for DooM!
I know it's a little OT, but can anyone suggest a sound card to use with my MF board? I've been using a Soundblaster Audigy ZS, but every now and then it just flakes out and makes nasty buzzing noises, plus it makes pops here and there.
Only requirement: Not more than about $150 and NO CREATIVE LABS!
Any suggestions appreciated!
How about an M-audio Audiophile?
They should come around that price (at least over here they do).
Personally im not all for internal sound cards just because i know how much different the noise level and sound quality are with decent external ones.
But if you want something internal M-audio is the way to go.
(EAX HD not supported though i think, i guess Creative Audio has a copyright on that).
Da_maniaC's Rig (Eclipse) |Client / Server port for DooM!
I don't know very much about motherboards but I do know a bit about sound cards.
I really hate creative based on their vista drivers and the way they squashed the third party vista drivers, but if you want to play games with EAX creative is pretty much your only choice. I would suggest this card by auzentech
which is basically a creative chip stuck on a seriously high end sound card. The creative brand cards are not nearly as good as this guy when it comes to analog output and input.
The Audiophile is an excellent card but you're limited to 4 channels. The quality on those 4 channels will be pretty much the best you can get, but it's really designed more for a musician than a gamer or a home theater watcher. If all you need is 2 channel output, this sound card will be great. You won't get EAX but who cares, that pretty much makes your games sound like they're filtered through wet farts anyway. I dunno if it's just me but I would rather hear unadulterated sound effects.
For the best sound quality of every day applications like listening to mp3s, divx movies or games, you will want a card that has the best signal to noise ratio you can get. That's SNR, and the higher the better. If you are going to be watching hi-def movies and connecting to your own decoder system then as long as your sound card has digital out and 5.1 or 7.1 you will be all set.
