Continuing the RAID saga ... it now confirms that either the DFI implementation of the ICH9R RAID Controller is flawed (BIOS) or has a Design limit or my particular DFI board is faulty (a high possibility) as when using the same Hard Drives and Device Drivers on the Abit IP35-Pro it is possible to have all 6 ports available for RAID configuration.
The DFI appears to have a max of 4 ports when setting the BIOS to RAID - ports 4/5 become disabled...or at least not visible when CTRL-I is selected to configure the RAID Arrays.
If this is a BIOS/Desgin issue on the DFI then it is clearly a fundamental issue which should have been tested within the Factory (RAID 101) and not out in the market by fee paying customers ... even the Sponsered field users could have caught this prior to the product going to market.

@ncsa.......I just came from the Abit IP35 Pro and I will tell you first hand that the D.F.I board does not like anything associated from that IP35 Pro disk!
My install cd that came with the second D.F.I board is touchy and has a hard time with auto play and its just not right regardless so I did a chipset install from the IP35 Pro disk and after that I could not get my USB keyboard and mouse to engage no matter how many times I rebooted and had to use a PS2 Key/Mouse, so I ended up reinstalling Winblows yet again (sigh) and used the shaky D.F.I P35 Disk installed the chipset drivers that came off of that and not a moments trouble!
Just to let you know the first install I reinstalled 3 different batches of the Intel chipset drivers and still no USB Key/Mouse!
So YES anything driver related from the Abit CD is a Bust and I bet you will fix you're problem if you start fresh unfortunately! "Hopefully"![]()

Just flashed from 8/23 to 9/13 official bios and starting to do some 2:3 (266/800) divider tests of the new memory related options to see what they bring to the table

thx esau
with those configs i can get up to 3.09 ghz (9x343)with stock cpu cooler... with 1.4v for CPU and 2.1v for memories (is it too much?)
i would like to push it to 3.2
any other recommendations?
and i will appreciate the right config for my memories...
i certainly read all this cas stuff but its hard to understand... mine is CAS4 800mhz
thx so much....
and if u could tip me on those programs u guys use to test memory, cpu or setup memory and etc...
and 1 more thing... i just checked my settings with cpuz and it appears that my core speed is 2.06ghz (343x6) when in my computer properties says @3.09 whats wrong?
oh wait its changing... goes to x9 and x6 on and off????????
sorry i ask all this questions... im a noob in this stuff (where can i download smart guardian? i have win vista)

I'm doing well with all the 32M,3Dmark06,Aquamark, games etc on 3.29 Ghz Vista 64 bit and i think the time is come to move on to Vista ( hopefully SP1 on it"s way).
However Prime95 Blend torture ispain in the ass for me.
turtletrax, what version of prime95 do You use ? Is it OK with Blend torture test on Vista 64 bit on DFI P35 T2R ?
@Chanana......this will get you what you want at first but.....Make a signature so we know what hardware you have!

Sounds like you are in you're very beginning stages with all of this Chanana but thats OK we've all been there! Best thing I can tell you is Install Windows XP SP2 seeing how you are not a advanced user or skilled with all of this thats a suggestion I cannot recommend enough because that Vista will give you problems with stability testing programs andf they will crash or lock up you're system and you will think its you're overclock and you will reach for the voltages first and formost thinking that will fix it and it wont! Don't Do it!!!! Use VISTA that is....POS it is!!!
Here go to this link its eva2000 site and has a very concise detail info on this very advanced Motherboardhttp://i4memory.com/showthread.php?t=4487

No this would not be the case as the fundamental issue is prior to this, the DFI BIOS (9/13 and prior) simply does not allow the ICH9R Controller to see > 4 drives when configured for RAID hence you are unable configure 6 drives for an Array(s), all of this is prior to any OS and Drivers being loaded and the RAID Drivers used on the Abit were the DFI supplied ones the.. so it comes down to QA in the factory and a simple test to check that Design Specs have been met.

well I can only relate to what I went through and it does not stand to reason that Intel chipset drivers Abit CD or D.F.I CD should have made a hill of beans difference but,,,they did. I did not expect the Bios deal to be corrected by the Lack of Abit drivers but you were also pointing toward Winblows example too![]()

For those that are experiencing 'noise' with this board, what sort of noise are you getting exactly? Mine was dead silent until earlier today, now it has developed quite a loud 'buzzing'. It isn't a high pitched whine or squeal but a buzz. It used to do it here and there but now it is constant no matter what. It isn't isolated to only happening a load, just having the system sit idle makes the same noise and it seems to be getting louder. I have no clue exactly where it is coming from until I track it down tomorrow after I get in from work but it is really annoying as it can easily be heard above all my 5 120mm case fans. Any clue what is causing it or how it can be stopped if it can even be stopped?
