Thermalright HR-03 or Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 - which is better ?

I have an X1800GTO2 soft modded to X1800XT and I'm looking for a replacement of my videocard stock cooling, my two choices being HR-03 and S1.

I had an Arctic Colling Accelero X2 and a Pentagram XC-80Cu, which were OK for "normal" utilization, but when overclocking and increasing the GPU voltage they were outscored by the stock cooling running full speed.

I looked on the web for a comparative testing of the two cooling solutions mentioned above, but I've found none.

If someone tested both of them on a X1900 or X1800 series card, any advice is welcomed.

I could test the S1, I received one this morning, but really I only bought it for the larger VRM heatsink it comes with. (I can use the S1 on something else later)

I'm fairly positive that the HR-03 is much better though, even if you strap a fan on the S1, mostly due to thicker heatpipes to help dissipate high heat quicker.

One friend of mine, tested S1 on a X1900XT using different 120mm coolers, and the temperatures were as it follows:

    X1900 XT @ 655/1550 MHz @ 1.35V vGPU

    Accelero S1 + Scythe DFS122512L @ 12V (~1300 RPM) - IDLE: 39*C - LOAD: 51*C
    Accelero S1 + Scythe DFS122512L @ 7V (~700 RPM) - IDLE: 40*C - LOAD: 58*C.
    Accelero S1 + Scythe DFS122512L @ 5V (~550 RPM) - IDLE: 42*C - LOAD: 56*C
    Accelero S1 + Scythe DFS122512L @ 7V (~750 RPM) - IDLE: 37*C - LOAD: 50*C (lower ambient temperature, probably ~ 25C, while >30C for the rest of the tests).

    Accelero S1 + Sunon KD1212PMB1-6A @ 12V (3100 RPM) & Sunon KD1212PMS1-6A @ 12V (3000 RPM) - IDLE: 38*C - LOAD: 45*C
    Accelero S1 + Sunon KD1212PMB1-6A @ 12V (3100 RPM) - IDLE: 38*C - LOAD: 46*C
    Accelero S1 + Sunon KD1212PMS1-6A @ 12V (3000 RPM) - IDLE: 38*C - LOAD: 47*C
    Accelero S1 + Sunon KD1212PMS1-6A @ 7V - IDLE: 39*C - LOAD: 48*C
    Accelero S1 + Sunon KD1212PMS1-6A @ 5V - IDLE: 39*C - LOAD: 52*C

    (lower ambient temperature)
    Accelero S1 + Nexus DF1209SL-3 @ 12V (~1500 RPM) - IDLE: 37*C - LOAD: 52*C
    Accelero S1 + Nexus DF1209SL-3 @ 7V (~875 RPM) - IDLE: 39*C - LOAD: 58*C.
    Accelero S1 + Nexus DF1209SL-3 @ 5V (~625 RPM) - IDLE: 42*C - LOAD: 69-70*C.

    X1900 XT @ 702/1550 MHz @ 1.45V
    Accelero S1 + Scythe DFS122512L @ 12V (~1300 RPM) - IDLE: 41*C - LOAD: 55*C.

    X1900XT @ 730/1550 MHz @ 1.5V vGPU
    Accelero S1 + Scythe DFS122512L @ 12V (~1300 RPM) - IDLE: 41*C - LOAD: 57*C

I don't know his ambient temperature, but he uses an open case test-bed. Anyway, I'm more than sure that his room temperature never went below 25C ... it has been pretty hot in Romania in the last few days: 40 - 41C.

It wasn't over 30*C in the other tests, but it was close. Something like 29-30*C.

Those are some nice results, better than what I was getting with my HR-03 with a Yate Loon on it (close case, variable ambient)

    Your choice!
If you go for TT BT you have to buy non VX version.
These are much better, but if you ask me to choose one of these (Thermalright HR-03 or Arctic Cooling Accelero S1), i will probably go for S1.
    CPU: E6400 [SL9S9 (L637A907)]
    Cooling: modded Scythe Infinity
    GPX: Power Color X1800 XT 512MB 625/1550 > 750/1720 (VCore 1,575V, TT Sonic Tower + 100CFM fan)
PowerColor X1950 XT 512MB 627/1600 > 670/1710 (VCore 1,40V…working on Vmod, softmod is not possible on this card, not standard PCB) Cooling: modded TT Sonic Tower , AC Accelero 2X (2000RPM), Zalman VF-700
    MB: Asus P5N-E SLI (i680) (VDrop-mod)> MAX FSB 522,5MHz
Cooling: Noctua NC-U6 + Noctua NF-R8 (1800RPM fan, VERY quiet)
    RAM: 1,5GB Cheap Memory [2x512MB Crutical + 2x256MB Samsung] (533/4-4-4-12)>700/4-4-4-12-1T (2,15V) or 850/5-5-5-12-2T (2,25V)
    HDD: Seagate.7 80GB + Samsung 120GB + Seagate.10 320GB
Chasis: moded TT Armor, Black with 250mm side-fan (w noise absorbing mats)
PCU: FSP 700W (the fan is very loud, going to change it)
    Fans: (2x) AC Arctic Fan 12, (2x) Silverstone SST/FM122, (2x) Sharkoon Silent Eagle 2000, 92x38mm DELTA + plenty of fans from 40mm to 250mm

    CPU-Z: CPU-4000MHz, room temp +5* (could do 4100 but my HDD crashed); RAM-860/5-5-5-12-2T; FSB-522,5MHz

The funny thing is that I already have a TT BT. But I'm gonna let it on my CPU for now.

A need a decent aircooling solution until I'll have my waterblocks repaired. S1 is more and more tempting ...

Here, the prices are: ~ 40$ for S1 and 50$ for HR-03, but if I knew that HR-03 is 5C better, I would pick it with my eyes closed.
