    Guys, can anyone post pics of mosfets's areas WITHOUT stock heatsinks? And I would most appreciate if anyone can measure the difference in mosfet's placement and holes for heatsink between P5K Deluxe and P5WDH/Commando.

    The thing is, I'm trying to find suitable mosfet blocks. MIPS says their blocks for P5WDH will fit on P5K...

    2 BIOS files posted in 1 day?

    ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/asus/mb/so...eluxe/0404.zip
    ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/asus/mb/so...eluxe/0501.zip

    the 0501 Bios is only 1MB, where 0404 is 2MB.

    Any ideas?

    I then verified that the pump was getting power but it wasn't running. I have another one on the way but I'll be down for a week.

    There's a five series BIOS up at this link:

    ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/so.../P5K%20Deluxe/

    But there's a problem in that this BIOS is only 1MB instead of 2MB. Have you had any insight in why ASUS uploaded this BIOS?

    There’s a motherboard temperature FAQ for the P5K Deluxe / P5K-E / P5K3 Deluxe at this link:

    http://support.asus.com/faq/faq.aspx...Language=en-us

    These three motherboards have been specially designed to express the importance of temperature management of the memory VRM (Voltage Regulator Module, or often called power circuit), as the cooling of memory VRM are often ignored or unnoticed by many users, though it is the key to overall memory stability. Due to this reason, the motherboard temperature sensor has been placed right next to the VRM circuit, allowing the motherboard to reflect the rise and fall of memory VRM temperature at real time. For the exact location of the motherboard temperature sensor, please kindly refer to the photo as shown below:

    Click image for larger version.

Name:	Memory VRM.jpg
Views:	9546
Size:	124.8 KB
ID:	60807

    In order to lower its temperature, we strongly recommend all users to ensure there is sufficient airflow passing through the memory VRM. This can be achieved via the following ways:

    1. The rearrangement of cables inside your chassis, to ensure there is no blockage to stop cold air from entering memory VRM zone.

    2. The use of CPU fan which brings sufficient airflow to its surrounding. (Higher fan spin may be required depending on the use of CPU fans.)

    3. Add extra fan to blow onto memory VRM directly.

    Note: The effect of above suggestions can be verified by monitoring the effect to the motherboard temperature reading under [Hardware Monitor] inside CMOS Setup screen, or via PcProbeII or AISuite under Windows platform.

    Due to their special design, the recommended motherboard temperature is also a little different to other motherboards not adopting such design. It is recommended to maintain your motherboard temperature of these three motherboards between 0 to 65 degrees Celsius to ensure overall stability of your system.

    wow just flashed to 0403 and alread 0404 is here LOL

    new item in 0403 bios:
    1. Added i see is FSB strap to North Bridge which basically lets you set the Strap used between AUTO/200/266/333. Note, what dividers you have available depends on the strap you select if you choose a setting other than AUTO. Basically the same as older bioses just they did the divider choices for you behind the scenes depending on your FSB selected. i.e. set 266FSB with 266 strap and you won't get 1:1 divider which is same as before. I just leave it at AUTO for it to function like past bios for now.

    Interesting about the super pi times there Supershanks.. looks like 0404 had slight better buffered sandra bandwidth might account for faster pi times ?????

    Okay did quick super pi 32M and everest run with 0403 and then flashed to 0404 bios.

    But, maybe 0404 bios tightened something as with 0311 and 0403 bios i could run 9x400fsb 2:3 600mhz 5-4-4-9 3-25-3-3-8 fine but can't even boot into bios properly.

    With 0404 bios - sometimes it hangs in bios with 0404. Supershanks showed 0404 increased bandwidth over 0311 and 0403 bios http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=768.

    Maybe my sub timings 3-25-3-3-8 too tight for 0404 bios ?

    Difference in 32m pi and Everest at those clocks:

    0311 = 13m 13.094s
    0403 = 13m 14.094s

    0311

    0403

    Results agree with Supershanks tests http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=768, that 0311 is still slightly faster than 0403 bios. I'll work on 0404 tomorrow and loosen sub timings and see.

    For the record, I can't boot with 4x1GB Crucial PC8500 with transaction boost set to ENABLE using the 0311 bios. Auto works fine. Haven't tried 40x yet... (still stability testing)
