I can get 9x313 prime stable for 12+ hours at stock vcore (1.392 in CPU-Z), but I cannot get any higher than 9x325 at 1.584 V (CPU-z). I'm inclined to blame this mobo (A8N32-SLI) since it has wildly varying voltages. To get 1.584 V under load, I have to set 1.625 in BIOS. Then in windows, it idles at 1.648 V and load is 1.584 V? Thats a 0.064 V drop. Is this normal? Note that at stock vcore, volts dont drop nearly as much. My power supply is PC P&C 510, which should not cause any problems.
Temps are all within reason, 50 C max under load at highest vcore (I have watercooling on the cpu only and a cool room, ~22 C ambient). Other setup/settings:
RAM: OCZ Gold PC3200 2x512 Memory divider 100
Video Card: PNY 7600 GS (just for testing since it doesnt use too much power)
Dual Raptor 74 GB Drives (not RAID 0, which i have yet to work out on this board)
    Watercooling is Swiftech H20-220
    TT Armor Case

Any suggestions on either whats going on or how to get a higher stable clock?

I have the same board and this site helped a bit.

Swiftech Apex Ultra WC kit with a 7800GT inline after the CPU. Both cores loaded it is about 52*C, one core loaded, about 42*C. PWMIC temps are high too, both cores loaded, it's in the 72*C range. HOT.

I'm having a problem going much higher too. I can get it to run Prime95 for a couple hours at 3GHz (334x9), but that is 1.6x vCore and running insanely hot, probably 60*C, if not a tad more. This setup is fully enclosed in a case though and is not a bench computer... just a regular desktop and gaming machine. Hence I sacrificed some MHz for voltage and temp. I will probably try to get a couple more MHz with the 704 bios, but truthfully I'm a little sick of messing with my computer and not using the darn thing.
I have the same stepping and my chip is scaling exactly the same 1.47v for 2.8ghz too. Does yours have one super weak core too? Somehow i don't think your cooling is working properly tho i have slightly better temps than you and i'm using air cooling. My comp is also in an enclosed case. BTW wut vcore did u use to get it running at 2.9?

Holy electrons! Stock cooling, 1.31v - what step is that and where did you get it?

Yeah, thats the one and only ass-kicking 0610DPMW which can do 3105 @ 1.5V But I had some (a lot) problems with my CFX3200-DR so I decided to do some testing with stock cooling. When my Raptor RAID setup finally worked I couldnt protect myself from a bit overclocking on the AMD cooler

    IHS on btw!

If I were you, (if you don't have it already) would go and get a NV Silencer 5 Rev.3. That will help a lot to lower your GPU, PWMIC and in-case temps. When I changed from a 7800GT to a X1900XTX stock cooler, PWMIC went around 10-12c down, all that with a much hotter card

Also, if the comp is for gaming, you can try and keep it at 334x9 and have an eye to the temps. A gaming/normal use comp rarely gets to the CPU usage that prime stresses, hence the CPU temps could be reasonable.

I also had to lower the mem divider, to keep vdimm for my BH-5 at around 3.1v. That also helped to PWMIC temps.

    And... I would try lower vcore, 1.6v seems a lot for a CCB1E0609FPMW. 1.4v x 110/113% maybe?

Don't know too much about WC, but those temps seems really high. What ambient temps do you have? Maybe a remount of the CPU block?

    Hope it helps
    mursaat,

I had an NV Silencer before actually. The fan started clicking though and when I went to this WC kit, I just WC'd the GPU as well to cut down on another fan. There are 2x120mm Yates up top blowing air out from inside the case, the little 80mm PSU fan blowing air out from the NeoHE 550, and an Arctic Silver 92mm fan on the back blowing air out. 2 92mm fans up front suck air in, and air gets pulled in from various gaps in the case as well. So airflow is actually decent, but there is quite a bit of heat in that water cooling loop.

I wouldn't run it at 334x9 all the time simply because this computer is a regular daily computer, but it is also on a DC project, using BOINC which loads up both cores 100% all the time.

    indeedaname,

I don't necessarily have a super weak core, but one is a little weaker than the other as expected. What are your temps like and on what air cooling? I could run faster delta fans and put my pump at 100%, but I'd rather have a quieter rig than another 100-200MHz (yeah I know, this is XS not SPCR ). Again, with the GPU in the loop I don't know how much heat that is adding to increase the CPU temps. I may remount the block though because my kit came with a spacer for the screws which butts the apogee block up against the mobo. Maybe I need to shave that spacer down a millimeter or two to get better contact.

Don't quote me on it, but I wanna say that it took a little over 1.5vCore to get to 2.9. It was one of those weird ones I think, like 1.518 or something like that, done using the DFIs percentage overvolt thing.

I eliminated the spacers altogether ...just have to remember not to overtighten.

Cool ...well just don't overtighten cause it can bend or perhaps crack the board and it probably won't boot at that point. If it fails to boot try to loosen it a tad. I had this happen once.

What I do is start each thread with an equal amount of turns until I reach the spring. At that point there is no bind and the block can still swivel side to side. So I press down a little pressure on the block by hand and swivel it just a little to smear the thermal paste. Then I begin to tighten each side about 5 or 6 turns each and check it for swivel each time.

Once it won't swivel anymore it's tight enough I assure you. I give it an extra turn just for good measure but it's isn't necessary.

    Good luck!

    I finally got 2.9 stable...
I guess my core 0 really is a LOT weaker than other people's cuz it took a hell of a lotta vcore to get it stable.

2.9ghz prime stable at 1.57 vcore at 52C
    Ambient was 24C

Any less vcore and prime would fail in under 30min only for core 0.

Btw guys very important question. How much vcore is too much vcore? Like when is it TOO much eventhough the temps are ok?

The general consensus is not to go over 1.6vcore on water and not over 1.5 on air. I don't go over 1.5v on air (testing) & 1.55v on water. I try to stay under 1.48vcore on air for daily use on air & 1.5v for water. But I typically keep my chips a while when I find a gem so I don't like to cook 'em. Typically as I said before, you should find a chips sweet spot and leave it there (Max overclock/Temp/vcore ratio). For me so far this is 1.392vcore 2907mhz. If I keep the 0617 thats where I'll leave it.

For me it is the same - 1,4VCore @2900 MHz
    Did this Prime run

But for everyday use I am using lesser VCore, although I am on water .

    You got up early today

BTW, bad temps for a water setup... The ambient temp here is about 21-23°C and with stock AMD cooler @ 2816MHz my 165 hits 45°C after 10hr dualprime... With water cooling @ 3105MHz it wouldn't exceed 41°C, IHS on...

Calm down its prob cuz i got the ccb1e which runs hotter. Stock cooler just seemed surprising. Also ur ambient is pretty cool in the first place. Damn u ppl with ur ccbbe 0610 :P

@Nemesis if I ran this cpu at the sweet spot i'd b at 2.7ghz.... Should I just sell and get a new CPU?

BTW, bad temps for a water setup... The ambient temp here is about 21-23°C and with stock AMD cooler @ 2816MHz my 165 hits 45°C after 10hr dualprime... With water cooling @ 3105MHz it wouldn't exceed 41°C, IHS on...
regarding the temps- I ve got OASE pump 900 l/hour and Alphacool
block -no leakage here -but my CPU is sitting in the case so , maybe...?

but another reason might be your CPU, which is the best 0610 I ve seen so far

CPU in the case? You mean radiator?

Yeah I know, haven't seen much opty's coming close...
I will report back when me CFX3200 is running without problems (ULi m5288 errors sucks big time) and my WC setup is up and running again (Storm CPU block, MCP655 pump, MCW-55 VGA block, BIX III radiator and 1/2" ID tubing)

No, no, I meant / just joking / that I ve seen actually some people
having their CPUS plugged into mobo without the case, just sitting on the desk...
I m not implying that this is your case, of course.
Your 0610 is excellent , my friend s got 0610 which s barely able to make 2800 @1,5VCore .Not all of them are the same, we all know that.

I had two, both were capable of 2900, this one looks to be a tad better-
but hey, it s just a fun and a game ...

TW, have you got any info on Core Duo release ? /And I know this is AMD OPT OC thread ../

Nice casemod though... No, serious, CPU is in the closed case

Ambient is now 25-26°C and cpu hits 46-47°C now dual priming @ 2816MHz...

You're actually doing good, that tower has nice spacing adjustments for HDs.
Would be nice if mobo makers made patch panels for cabling...
