2990 @ 1.37v that's way better than anything I've seen so far for a 0609FPBW, or any 165 actually. Simply amazing really, got any screenshots to show?

Async latency is at 9 and Preamble at 7, maybe I should try even higher although I cant believe that will really do any good.

What are your temps on that sweet watercooling you have? Must be near ambient under load or something. Mine's definately breaking 40C under load when over 2.8Ghz/1.4v. Which is when Oc'ing is getting tough on this chip.

Mine will boot at about any speed and any voltage it seems but getting Prime stable is another story... Rosetta (which is a bit easier on the CPU imo), games and 3dMark behave nicer though. But I better nog get my hopes up for that monster speed of yours cause I'm never getting it lol.

BTW... Would you like to join a good cause and do something for XS with that BEAST? Just click the link in my sig, you really wont regret it.

GLENBOY's scales way better though, mine doesn't wanna do 3.1@1.5, it always freezes after some time because it gets too hot

    But yes, RUN ROSETTA

here you are this was done by who i bought this chip from , who bought 2 of them kept one of them both same stepping and batch code, mine won'y prime at 3100 but will run 24/7 at that i have been running at that for a week super pi etc , aquamark but will not do 3dmark at 3100 but will do at 3030, see links to scores below, these are a good chip but a bit of bios tweaking is required to get the best out of it, runs hot though idles on mine about 37 celsius even at 1.47 volt

    Little offtopic, but..

Ran into a little snag while trying to max out my OC. My brand new XFX 7900GTX started flaking out on me. It ran perfectly for the first couple days I had it. Aside from 3dmark, I didn't put alot of stress on it and temps were good. The first symptom was a nv4disp.dll blue screen during 3dmark05.

At first I thought it must be my CPU oc so I clocked it down to 2200mhz and underclocked the video card. No love. From there it was all downhill. Lockups, video signal loss to the monitor, artifacting, etc. Of course, I don't have another PCIE card, so my brand new build is collecting dust during the RMA now. Ah, the frustration.

    CCBBE-weeee!

found an online store who will hand pick the steppings for me...
Turns out he has quite a few CCBBE's in stock... $311 each(regardless of stepping)...
is it worth forking out the extra for a 170?
or save my dosh and just turnover a couple of 165's till i find a good clocker?

am building a mates comp, and he doesnt mind what cpu he gets so long as it will 24/7 without problems or maintainence) and putting these (or the 170's) in mine and my g/f's and she's in the same boat as him, so ill have 3 to play with to find the best one... my 4400+ blows.. 2.5@1.41(still testing, but nothing on what some people are posting the 165's can do)... but i think my psu could be a little to blame, both in bios and windows jumps around the 1.36-1.41 area

    170/165...

    and Jump on the CCBBE's?
    OT
also, the ocz5002048pleb-k (plat enhanced bandwidth, may have fudge the code) good to work with? i need something that clocks reasonably on low voltage (msi k8n neo4 plat.. 2.85-2.9 max)

Glenboy that is awesome, congrats. And they sure do run hot. Mine loads at 38C at stock volts/2750Mhz, while my watercooling was enough to keep my Venice passively cooled and not even break 30C.

@ Kilyin: Sounds like one of the cards XFX is having problems with (because of the fctory overclock), an RMA should solve this. WEre temps on your card or in your case high?

@ niexa77:: Definately get the 165 if you can test three of them.

1.425v in bios? That's a great chip. You have more mainboards to put these 165s in? Once my watercooling is in, i'll have silence 24/7, and that's where Rosetta comes in .

dang you get nice ones. i think my mobo is what holds me back. maybe it doesnt regulate voltage as steady or something. if you read my post a page or so back when i said i hit 2.8 with 1.5v and another user with a dfi board got 2.8 with only 1.425 when i sold it to him and hes on air and im water.

but too lazy to get DFI this late in the game with all the new stuff coming.

Thanks guys Didn't wanna do it at 1.425, but it's stable at 1.45. same as my 0608MPMW before I took the lid off.. and it's doing a few MHz more on stock (2915 vs 2895) so I think the lid is coming off.. plus it still has it's little break in period, every chip I've had has gotten slightly better.. the 0615 I just had went from 2.95@1.475 to 2.96@1.45.

And yeah I have one more mainboard, another Ultra-D that I'm putting together.. the new 0610 is gonna be my personal one and the 0608 for the family, both crunching rosetta 3Ghz dual core for internet and word processing, talk about over kill

Just replaced 4200+ with opty 170

Hi guys. I decided to experiment with 170 overclocking. In a nut shell, replacing the 4200+ with an opty was a good decision. I'm already at a 600 mhz overclock at 1.47 volts. Much better than the x2. System specs are:

    Asus a8n32-SLI
    opty 170 w/Zalman 9500Cu
    2gb Corsair xms4400
    seasonic 600Watt SLI PSU
    2x evga7900GTX's
    SB X-fi
    Adaptec usb2.0 Dual tv tuner
    MCE2005

    My current OC is 10x 260mhz FSB = 2600mhz @ 1.47volts.
This is the highest I've t tried so far. So far, so good. A half hour of dual, affinity set P95 and looping 3dmark06 tests good. Here is my compare URL for 3dMark06:

    http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=335218

I Forgot to mention my stepping was BWE 0551, not a good week I think, but much better than the X2 4200, only hit 2.5 with that, same rig. I'll try higher and update as necessary.

No, heat wasn't the issue. Card core never cracked 55c. I'd like to know how it worked flawlessly one day and horribly the next though!

I asked them what steppings they were carrying...all I got back in response was "0551"...and if you look at page one of this thread, this means CCBWE 0551...

I guess they like you more or something niexa77. If you know something I don't please help me out! Thanks.

phi|os, i just asked if they'd be willing to pick steppings for me,
got back "tell me what stepping you want and ill look tomorrow"
listed the best of the ones listed here and he said they had the ccbbe's... didnt press for much more, the ccbbe's all seem to have been pretty good...

did ask "i know some people who would be very interested in these, mind if i refer them to you... they will be interested in specific steppings too"

"Sure, no problems. just list the steppings you want when you buy and ill be sure to pick them out for you"

ill be buying tomorrow, so you can use me as a test dummy if you want... will take some happy-snaps when the new family gets here :P
