Well I would. That's why we have different price points.

Just check two posts above you.

I had intended, and written, much longer replies, but browser crashed while typing and I'm too lazy to retype something new, so I kept it very short.

How can people expect this to be the same as a FX-55?

    X2 4800+ 2.4Ghz, DC- £600
    FX-55- £500
    FX-60, 2.6ghz DC- £800?

There is no way in hell this is gonna be as cheap as a FX-55, it will be a fair bit more than a X2 4800+, infact id go as far as saying a lot more, which is pretty stupid numbers, unless AMD cut prices on there X2 line a lot.

2.6ghz dual core opteron for 800$ socket 939. its at least equal quality to the fx. crappy release IMHO.

If they could, they'd sell them as FX-65s at 2.8GHz. They can't all reliably do 3GHz on air, esp. not stock cooling and stock volts. I'd guess that not even 2/3rds of them could do 2.8GHz with stock accutrements.

    Zabomb, that's single core.

EDIT: I think I should forewarn everybody as everyone here seems to be off in La-La Land--DON'T expect miracle clocks from these under any cooling. A good Opteron is as good as one of these in clocking, just like in single core variants.

Well, the 285 is expected to be announced alongside the FX60, so if there is to be a 185, we'll know then ......

Modern Ram, makes an old overclocker miss BH-5 and the fun it was

No, the SE DC Opti's have 120W TDPs (like the currently available (to tier 1 only) 285 SE), and regular DC Opti's, which follow, have 95W TDPs.

My bad...you're right. IIRC, though....the Opty 285 won't have a 95W TDP for quite sometime...

    Opty 285

    FX-60: 110W TDP, IIRC
    Opty 285 SE: 120W TDP
Opty 285: 95W TDP (unknown release date or even general timeframe)
    Opty 185: 95W TDP (I imagine....likely released after 285)

    A 95W 185/285 would logically be a better overclocker than a 110W FX-60. But you are saying these low-TDP opterons won't be released in a while? A 110 FX-60 looks better than a 120W opty though.

OMG guess please buy it so I can buy it from you when you get tired of it !!!

the FX60 is going to be so sweet !! I'm going to have to start saving now if I'm ever going to be able to get one

I bet we will be seeing 3.3 to 3.4ghz out of the FX60 with single phase and 3.6ghz on cascade !! dual core at that speed is a dream
