Epox vdd mod- Kill Board? HELP!

I did the mod for vdd voltage by soldering a pot that is 1kohm and 0.75w.
Board then never booted up .
Board now seems dead as it starts but gives no display and no post beeps.
    The LED says "7L".
Removed the mod and it is still the same...

    Any ideas?

I know what I did wrong now! Soldered the right chip but the wrong pins on the opposite side of what I should have soldered

I assumed pin was pin 1 on both sides of the Chip!!!
So I soldered pin 5 and pin 8.

    What does this mean?

Can I just replace the IR3037 chip , or would the board be damaged as a whole.

    wrx1,

    Welcome to Xtreme

    Sounds like a dead board

    Hope someone can say otherwise.

you conncted the output driver pin to the soft start pin.
if you have removed the mod and your board is still dead then you have killed something.
Possibly just the Vreg, maybee the mosfets either way you wont be able to repair it yourself.

    WOW !!!

    HOLD THE PHONE.
I had it on the right way but forgot to plug the monitor in!!!

3 hours went by testing and checking .
    Now we are in business.
Stuck it on 220 fsb and it is fine.

I´d never though it could be pushed this far at all.

    Lucky you wrx1.
Most modern volt regulators have some sorts of protection built-in e.g. short circuit, overload.
For info, there is a dot mark on pin 1 of the IC.

Just one question...... how much power (Watts) does the nforce2 chipset consumes at those voltages (1.55v to 1.9v) with a peak speed of 230mhz ??

I'm asking to know which TEC we could use on it... a 50w one? 85w ? i could simply use a 120w but LOL... i dont want negative temp's, just the correct one to keep the chipset at environment temperature or a bit lower...

I don't know if this answers your question or not.
The IC (IRU7313) that handles the power to the chipset has Continuous Current Drain at 6.5Amp at 25C.
If you run the chipset at max 2V, I don't think you need more than 40W Peltier. But you might need to cool IRU7313 and 3037 too.

I set 2-3-3-7 at 221MHz FSB --> no problem (with Vdd mod).
2.5-3-3-7 upto 230MHz (but screen flash and 3-mouse-pointer problem again)
I did the Vdd mod already (1.78V) but might not be high enough to
    run 230MHz FSB.
Are you serious putting a Peltier on NB?

a small one..... yah! you see, i hate noise i'm already watercooled, and cooling that hot chipset by Air is out of the question, using only water it will still get hot, but.. why not a small Peltier to cool things down enough to have nice performance with ZERO noise....

I have 1 OCz 512mb PC3500 EL.... i heard ppl saying it wont pass 166fsb without problems on 8rda.. but you seem to be OK... dont know what to think now

ocz go to google and use the word ocz scandal, you will find a few interesting topics about ocz. Ocz uses ordinary samsung(!!) chips, here in the Netherlands a few shops have broken the contacts with ocz because of this "scandals".

Mayby with a v-dim mod, but currently with 2.9 Volt/ 220 Mhz 2-2-2-5 is the max. V-dim mod is on the way, only risky What is your fsb speed with cas 2-2-2-5? (I have the special ctl high speed versions)
