If the Semprons are the same as the post week 39 2003 Bartons and Tbreds then if you have a NF2 board the L5 mod wont work as it only works on Via chipsets.

I'll be trying a 3100+ socket A once they are released. My bet is these will be the chips to get since they are more like the A64's little brother.

Think again, the best thing you´ll get in socket A is a barton. We would be damn lucky if we ever get a 90nm 256KB socket A cpu.

Sempron Socket A is a super locked TBred well Thorton prolly in most cases who knows they might all be a mix bag of 256KB L2 cache chips rebandaged. Knock them all you will they tear the Celeron up and thats all they are meant to do.

Prehaps you should think again, the sempron 3100 is a socket 754 and has a integrated memory contoller like the a64's just with the 64 bit instructions turned off

Yes, the Sempron 3100+ is K8 based. No 64-bit and only 256KB L2 cache.

    The 2800+/2200+ are K7 based. TBred's basically.

And you then can tell me how will amd put a cpu with a integrated memory controller running in a socket A board, wich already has one. Among other architectural differences.

Hey Kalway, how´s FSB overclocking in your a7v880?
Does that board run 4 dimms nicelly?

This board is really quirky. I needa get a barton to test it with because it doesn't play nicely over 200fsb with a 133 tbred. Perhaps a 166/200 fsb barton will play nicer.

I even tried L12 modding it to 200fsb and it still wouldn't play nicely with the tbred. It detected the 200fsb default, but still wouldn't play nicely. Everything except 3d was stable. Hopefully some BIOS fixes will make it nicer.

Since these are based on the thorton core, which is a hacked barton, they may play nicely. The board oc's to 230mhz fsb no sweat.

There is a 3100+ Socket A (based on AXP cores) and a 3100+ Socket 754 (based on A64 cores).. i've been away a week and even I know that!

All along the watchtower the watchmen watch the eternal return.

    That´s either a fake image, or that´s something like a 2166MHz barton.

    I didn´t say there wasn´t a 3100+ socket A sempron.
I was just saying you would never see a K8 running on a k7 board.

Anyway i think the fastest things well see in socket A (unfortunatelly) is a overclocked mobile athlon XP.

90nm shouldn´t come this way, but i sure like to get my hands on one. I was hoping a few months ago, that palermo was a 90nm Barton.

Where are you getting your information that 3100+ is Socket A as well?
    http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/..._11604,00.html
The frequency of the 3100+ here would indicate it is socket 754 only. Are AMD releasing a socket A version in the future which is as yet unannounced and if so why would it be a 3100+ and not a 3000+?
