Talking I took out 19k with my ti4200, 20k is next

    http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=8056896

old score still in sig. gained 158 marks going ras-cas2 which seems low should I be gaining more like 300-500 with tight ram timings?

    Congrats Ace!
TBH I doubt 20k will happen soon, but you just HAVE to try

Is it just me, or did you really have a bad Car Low run? I got 298FPS with a Barton at 244x10.5...

If you have a 9800pro/xt then I am not supprised why. The gpu does make some difference in car low if your not 100% cpu limited. the more gpu limited you are the more a difference. heck if you are gpu limited enough, you can even gain in car high! I usually get like 280 in car low but this was a super run! I hit 330 I think with my 9800pro(no longer own) at xt clocks by the way. also with ti4200 at 640x680 I get 350+ in car low. I am gonna try to break 300 in car low at 1024 res, I already got that with drag low

    Nice score

My drag looks a bit sickly compared to yours and our nature scores, but nice to see a Clawhammer at 2500 being similar to a Newcastle at a lot more.

    Race you to 20k then.

Clawhammers are simply awesome in 3d mark!

    Nice score Geforce4ti4200!

Gonna get me a sparkling new Asus V9480 ti4800SE for €80,-

Will put the ghettochilling on it and see if 21K comes within reach...

Good luck both on your race to 20K, i'm putting my money on Andy if he hurries up with the electricity in his shed.

I have higher gpu and cpu clocks but your agp 8x helps in nature thats why you got me there. also I have looked at your old 18.8k score with your old 235x10 and your very close to me in car high and lobbies. 240x10 would probably be matching or even beating me there. once you get your new ram on its feet your gonna really own too. How much of a difference is going from ras-cas3 to 2 supposed to help? I only gained 158 marks?

" just imagine what you Could be getting with a 9800pro... or an x800xt.."

9800 pro should get me 23k, MAYBE 24k if it does like 480/380+ clocks and I do a vdimm mod to my bh5 to get it to 260MHz. but I am doing the impossible on a ti4200. 24k with 9800 pro isnt even special but it does make a nice gaming card

"Will put the ghettochilling on it and see if 21K comes within reach..."

900 marks gained from a faster ti4200? your gonna need enough clocks to hit 115fps in nature to get your 21k unless you squeeze more from your 2.55GHz claw.

"you got the beers cold over there already, it's time to get the CPU and GPU cold now!"

that one made me laugh! I never thought I could get close to Andy's score seeing I never had an a64 to match his till now. I just now need a better ti4200 than hes got

you might get some---or alot of artifacts at 800MHz ram lemmie on a secret, I can do 700MHz clean but 40MHz more for a bunch of artifacts. any higher and my score begins to go down cause of too many artifacts. also ram does not matter as much as the core. You will need some pretty good mods and like 0c cooling or less for 390 core. your at 370/750 now so another 20MHz core is worth 300 marks and throw in 250 more for the ram. agp 8x may be worth a bit more for its nature. I recon 600-700 is gonna be realistic, that will put you at like 20.8k

by the way, its been killing me but why am I only gaining 158 marks with ras-cas2 ram vs. 3?

    We'll see about that.
Did you check Burnerman's score? He got 21K with just 370/780 or so?

I know he had some more CPU power but hey, if i can get my card up to some 390/800+ i might be close.

Also, i forgot a few tweaks along the way on my trip to 20K.

About 0C cooling..no problem, got my 20K run with -10 coolant and also Vmods won't be much of a problem either.

But i have to wait for the temps to go down over here.

My CPU hasn't got much left but most gain will come from card clocks anyway.

For your RAS-CAS 3 to 2 setting, 158 marks ain't much but it's a gain nontheless, you just got yourself into the 19K club.

How much did you expect to gain from that?
Btw did you mess around with CodeRed's A64 tweaker?

Electricity was finished off at 10pm last night, I now have 20Amp to 2 x 20AMP off a consumer unit and 6amp for light. 10 sockets are go.

Will be moving my stuff in Saturday/Sunday, will be doing air benches on Monday to check nothing suffereed in the move, cooling down my chilled water for cpu on Monday and testing on cpu Tuesday, testing video card and cpu with chilled water on Wednesday .. all going to plan. With so many changes I'm sure the F*ck-up Fairy will make at least one appearance with her wand. I might be in tears by Thursday as Gf4 pips me to 20K !

20k is gonna be mighty hard on air with a newcastle at single channel and 238fsb. I need almost 900 marks of ti4200 clocks unless I can do a vdimm mod but my 3.3v rail is too low

Yeah it's pretty close on the cpu / RAm front so hopefully you can get a better GF4 to match up, doesn'y yours have a 340 limit on air voltmodded ? Mine does 355 so that is a big gap. However the memory is only average, with 720 max.

My game plan is to get above 19 500 with cpu and RAm increases then try the final 500 points with cold water rather than air. Who knows though, 355 might be the limit on cold water and air. Funny old things semiconductors, some times they just don't follow logic and physics. For every one success there always seems to be 2 failures and 3 times when you are treading water getting nowhere.

At least this time I will be benching in the light in the warm summer and not 3am on a winters day . I shall have the beers and BBQ going anyhow to compensate if I am still stuck at 19.3k next week.

    Regards

    Andy

PS You need to go watercooling GF4 .. you'll find it fun and should not cost too much.

I see no reason you wont break 19.5k minimum considering your new ram and chilled water. Theres a pretty good chance youll be next in line for 20k. I have alot of work for my own 20k, gonna need to mod my psu then vdimm mod, oh hard work

Cant you crank up the speed on your TI4200 with some more Volts???

Do a suicide run if its needed... You can get a new TI4200 for no money anyway... Or you could upgrade to a card that actually can play the new games and get even more 3dmarks...

    But GL to both

r3b0rN, a faster clock fx wont really help out except in nature. a faster cpu, especially an a64 can get you 20k with 53.03 drivers or like 22k with the "optimized" 44.03 Youd actually be better off with a 9800 pro anyway

    The Geforce has spoken!!!!

Whatever you do, don't try to clock that FX any higher,.....that would be a waste of time and just plain silly as FX's suck . In fact, you should get rid of thar card right now and get you a good ti4200 or two or three.

Actually, Gf4 does have a point about going a64. Keep your 5900xt and save the money you were going to spend on a gpu upgrade toward an a64 cpu. Point is,....regardless of what cpu, clock the out of that 5900xt. Volt mod it! Some impressive 5900xt scores on the orb.
