    Precott 3.2 D0 Overclocking

Got my new Prescott 3.2 with D0 stepping yesterday, she looks so cute

If you can't read the information on the pic:
    Code: SL7E5
    Made in Costa Rica

She is doing fine up to now, booted up with 250FSB (=4ghz), and all is stable
I will buy some dry ice for the weekend, and maybe I'll do some of Hipros IC7 mods. But the trace cutting mods seems to be very hard to do, I won't kill this board, it does 320FSB without any mods (except vdimm mod)

I got 3.2E D0 cpu too, but its LGA775 model. It can run (with stock hs) at 3.9GHz SPI 8M calculation through, and 1M a bit higher. 5:53 in SPI 8M aint that bad for stock cooled cpu At weekend I'll try to attach it to R404 modded Mach2, so it will "probably" go much higher

from 3.2 to 3.9 is not really good if you think of it percantage wise.

700mhz from 3200mhz is just a 20% oc. same with amd chips... i miss the 50-100% days

3.9ghz at stock cooler is very good. I'm looking forward to some mach2 results, it will go higher

I wonder if/when we'll again see the 33%+ overclocks that Northwood 1.6GHz and 2.4GHz gave us? I'd love to see a 3GHz cpu reach 4+ on air

I bought dry ice today, prepared all the hardware and so on. But when I wanted to boot up the rig the fans started to spin, and the whole system was running, but only for 1-2secs. After some time I got the system running anyway. I can't adjust the memory voltage with my trimmer anymore (only 2.5v-2.8v via BIOS)
I got information that a Vdimm Mod without a Vtt Mod (set to1/2 of vdimm) can kill IC7 boards. Can this be true?
I have this issue all the time
Yesterday I got 4150mhz stable with my chiller, at 1,58v... Today with dry ice I only got 4,4ghz with 1,63v. The CPU want to do more, but something is holding me back, I'm sure
    Nevertheless here are some pics:

    added some extra foam

I'll try to do it better tomorrow, but I think I need a new mobo

The problem is the Vdimm, I did the mod months ago, worked good all the time. Yesterday at my dry ice sessions, i wasn't able to change to voltage via the mod. No idea what had happened

@saaya: The RAM did 260 2/2/2/5 @3,5v, the board did 320FSB with stock nb cooling and no mods (except vdimm)
I oced very nice, just look back to my 3.2E ES ocing. It was the same mobo, the same ram....

Yes 40° is not good, i know. The water only has -10 to -5°, and the prescott gets really hot

Well rested I will look what I can push out of it today

Check to make sure the mods still grounded, that would cause the inability to adjust vdimm.

Might I suggest a P4C800 and mod it.

The IC7 is a strong board and all but on random sample the FSB limitations might be your problem.

What size of PSU are you using?
    Intel 9990XE @ 5.1Ghz
    ASUS Rampage VI Extreme Omega
GTX 2080 ti Galax Hall of Fame
    64GB Galax Hall of Fame
    Intel Optane
    Platimax 1245W

    Intel 3175X
    Asus Dominus Extreme
GRX 1080ti Galax Hall of Fame
    96GB Patriot Steel
    Intel Optane 900P RAID

Yes maybe I'll go for a P4C800..., but I got the mobo working today. I can adjust the Vdimm like all the times before, and I have no booting issues either
This D0 Chip is really weird, i got the highest clock with 1,45v. It oced better with less voltage

I have a TTGI 520w PSU, rails are modded to 12.9v, 5.6v and 3.8v. I had the same PSU with my 3.2 ES at 4,8ghz...
I hope I can do 29secs with my ES tomorrow, if there is enough dry ice left
I'll upload some pics later, I go to bed now
