    Talking Mobile 2600+

I cannot get more out of my CPU or mobo.

Do you have an idea or is this the max for air?

    help.

You are a funny man. 2750 is GREAT on air. Even for these chips. I get about 100mhz less than that, although I haven't really had a chance to test it thoroughly. The fact that you have 2750mhz on a DFI board on air cooling is insane.

So there is no way to get a higher score?

I booted at 2880 (12X240) but it keeps rebooting. This is with a vcore of 2 volt.
    Anyone else can help me?

Lower FSB and higher CPU clock may be faster if you can run tighter ram timings.

I think the only way to get a big gain will be better cooling and more vcore to get a higher CPU speed.

But as Lithan says thats an awesome clock on air cooling, I dont think you can do much better with the kit you have.

Nice OC!!! Is that the MPMW flavor? If so, it's the same chip I used for 2.7GHz. Sadly, it died in a terrible mishap. http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=2447338

Yeah my good chips an mpmw about 365 batch number iirc. My two weak chips (2600ish max on air) are both 800-900 batch number and xpmws. It's funny. People are usually thrilled when they get 2700mhz on air. Noone wants ones that max at 2500-2600 anymore. Doh!

Welp, everything was running great, until I decided to give the micro guru utility a try. I still don't understand how, but it killed the mobo and chip. I tried 'em both with other hardware, so I'm sure of it. Lucky for me, they were both approved for RMAs, and I bought them at eXcaliber, so I'll get the same stepping back. I just don't know how many MPMWs are 2.7GHz chips, tho.

Sweet. Yep those mobile chips are great. BTW, I was using the Zalman 7000 coppery flowery dealy-bob, with a 120mm "booster" fan pointed at it.

Imagine we had vapor? I'm assuming 3.3ghz is possible at extreme low temps. I think that would whoop FX's a$$. aha

Dang, maybe with some more burn-in, and improved cooling, you might get 3GHz.??? That would totally rock, for air-cooled. Have you experimented with fan mounting, like sucking the heat away from the chip, instead of blowing air onto it? Just a thought.

    I try it

I think that the mosfets are getting hot because of the fan blows hot air in to it.
Maybe whit the fan in reverse this problem is solved.

Does anyone knows what the affect is?

That's the Abit AN7, excellent board, and 2x256 of OCZ PC3500 Basic. Since I sent that board back to Abit, I recently bought 2x512's of Mushkin PC3500 Level II. Don't have the RAM yet, but the seller has great Heat, and is a forum member here, so I'm sure it's cool. I can't wait to give it another shot.

I wonder if the 35w mobile 2400+ can beat these mobile 2600+.

LOL, clockspeed wouldn't be able to make up for the Barton's neanderthal architecture....my guess would be that it'd take like 4.5gHz pf Barton power to compare to 2.2gHz FX....maybe more
