New bios works. No 1/6, but at least you can post at 200+fsb now.

Not really, if it's made by ECS we can't sleep at all

Sandra is 3040. you would think it would be higher at 214 2.5-2-2-6-1T 4way, dram enhance, but still not bad considering cpu fast decode is off. The person that posted the bios said that cpu fast decode couldn't run aboev 166. Seems a bit low for that limitation.

I'm running twinmos 512mb ddr400 with -5 winbond afetr a long burn-in. Still has room to go, but I'm afraid of drive data loss without a 1/6th. the good thing is not one bit of bios tearing that was so common above 200 on the epox and some on the KX7 as well.

I tried to put the second stick in but it wouldn't boot into windows with 2 sticks, so 1 512 is it.

edit: I also backed it down to 2T because it wouldn't complete 3dmark or Prime, but it does at 2T.

For the hell of it try the serial ata. I know your transfer rate is limited by your hdd but maybe it copes with the higer FSB speeds and data corruption.

I have 3 drives and they only give you one sata cable, so I could try the Raid connectors for 2 and the sata for one and the cdrw's on the regular ides's . Do you think that would help?

well finally after 7 hour rebuild of comp, unlocking t-bred, relapping waterblock, cleaning out every compontent(very dusty), re-arranging everything to chuck in new raid array. etc etc. Oh and spiral wrapped every single wire in here(long!).

ANyway, got my old maxtor and chucked it on the serialle thing to see if it works. Makes lamost no difference, need to test it with proper bench before i decide though. I think the score is slightly higher TBH, but that's probably down to the vlink8x giving better bandwidth to the hard drive.

But anyway, it works well and saved a little cable trouble.

At the mo i can't get it to overclock well at all, gonna try the new bios in the next hour or so. Hoprfully will give me some good fsb overclocks.

I'll update if and when i have anything useful to say, but i have serious doubts about this board already.

The board is broken without the new bios. Try it and see. World of difference.

where did you download it from , amdmb?? i got it but its a .boo file not .bin which i assumed it would be. Is that the same one you used?

DO all abits bios's come in that form??

Also did your onboard sound install properly(assuming you use it) and same goes for the software and the hardware monitering software. My sound won't work, i get a Code 10 reason for it not starting up, whatever that is(says that in device manager.

the hardware stuff jsut won't install from cd, corrupt files, just wondering if all the cds they sent out were as bad.

OH and am i being really dense or is there no agp 8x option, how can i check what agp speed i'm running at? I cant' tell at all. Also with the 2.3cat drivers the control panel is borked and won't show agp speed correctly.

You can rename the bios to .bin. I'm not using on board sound.

So buying these boards..... are they worth it or not? Basically they're volt-modded KX7-333s.... that's what it's turning out to be.

    Seems to be that way...

Without that 1/6 divider...*sigh*...picked a refurb kx7-333r up today from newegg for 60 bucks shipped. Patience only stretches so thin, and I've read enough about the KD7 to stay away for a while.
