whats the diff between a 45 or a 72W xp-m 2500+ ? is the W for watts and is it just the amount of power it needs? the 45W costs a bit more. And whats better?

The mobile barton with 45W consumes only these 45W in comparison to the normal one that consumes 72W, because the Vcore on that chip is at only 1,45V.
That's why the 45W chip cost more and is indeed better!![]()

ok thnx...and another thing: I heard the 2500 is a bit different from the 2400/2600? is that true or is the 2600 the best out of those 3?

Biohead the 2600 is an athlon xp and the 2400 and 2500 are bartons, so the best chance on a nice score is with the 2500 but as we all see there is non or a verry little differends between the 2400 and 2500 when the got OCed to the max.
i've been hearing the 2600+ mobiles are the best. If you think about it, they're also rated for the highest clock speed at 1.45v, so it makes sense. They are barton's too, just check out newegg.![]()

yah the 2600s are bartons too
can you see the light? is it shining too bright? can you see the light at the end of the tunnel, i know i do, i know its true.
I think the 2400, 2500 and 2600 barton mobiles having the same chips only the 2600 is tested on 2600+ speeds and the 2400 on 2400 speeds, look to the overklocked results, there is just no differents.
Dumb question on my first foray into AMD land after years of building Intel:
I just put a mobile Barton 2500+ into a DFI NF2 Ultra Infinity. If the default Vcore on the chip is 1.45, why does the mobo pump 1.58v into the CPU as default? Is it just a consequence of having an "unrecognized" CPU in the board?
(FYI, the default multi is 6 and FSB is 100...)
EDIT: Never mind. I figured it out.![]()

all the desktop boards seem to do it.
the mobiles I've seen all have 1,55v except for the 2500 which can be bought in 45W/1,45v too... But maybe its just a sucky store...But for now its the only store I found that have them (except for NewEgg but they are sold out
)

lol whats the differents between Desktop replacement (?), Mainstream and LowPower? You ordered the mainstream version does that mean higher voltage or something?
And im getting a bit confused by all those different 2600's... higher/lower clocks, mainstream/desktop, barton/tbred etc etc... cant they just put a "very good overclockable AMD mobile 2600" these instead?![]()
btw what ur msn addres I'd like to talk to u

The Desktop replacement is almost the same as the mainstream but the biggest differends between it is that the mainstream only 45W heat produced and the Dektop... 72W. So the mainstream is less hot than the desktop... and will OC harder because he has better temperatures. The LopPower version is a version with the smallest amount of heat producment (good English?) but it is not able to work in a standard Socket A motherboard. If you order a mobile cpu just order the mainstreams.Originally posted by biohead

EDIT:
on your site (go2shop) this is the right cpu to order:
CPU AMD Mobile Athlon XP 2400+ 45W (again the 45W are mainstreams and able to work in any Socket A motherboard)
