    OCZ Ultra 2 recall

    http://www.ocztechnology.com/display...hp?name=recall

OCZ would like to take this time to address the recent article published at Overclockers.com, which shows that OCZ Ultra 2 thermal compound has no silver content.

OCZ does not manufacture Ultra 2 thermal compound in house, it is provided by a foreign manufacturer with our specifications. Previous independent lab tests conducted at the request of OCZ have shown that the silver compound content in Ultra 2 is 25% by volume and 70% by weight.

In response to this article, OCZ has submitted another batch of Ultra 2 to a third party for extensive lab testing. This Independent lab report show’s that the most recent batch of OCZ Ultra 2 indeed contains less than 1% silver by volume. While simultaneously we have received lab reports from an outside source indicating the silver content to be 30% by weight. This leads us to the conclusion that recent batch(s) of OCZ Ultra 2 from our supplier did not meet the agreed specifications.

We accept full responsibility for these problems and we will be seeking legal action against our supplier.

In order to help solve this problem we have contacted Arctic Silver Inc, and entered into a vendor agreement with them to supply OCZ thermal paste.

Beginning January 22nd 2004 we are issuing a full recall of any and all OCZ Ultra 2.

Any Customers who wish to return OCZ Ultra 2 thermal paste with an invoice will in exchange for their full or partially used tube(s) receive:
1- One (dependant on # of tubes returned) 3-gram OCZ thermal Compound (made by Arctic Silver Inc.) or one OCZ Dominator 2 Heatsink.
2- One OCZ EL DDR T-Shirt
3- One 10 dollar off rebate on any OCZ EL DDR Dual Channel Kit (at participating resellers)

For more Information or instructions on returning your ultra 2 please email recall@ocztechnology.com .
OCZ employee and proud of it.
If you have actually personaly experienced a problem with a OCZ product that was not solved quickly by our wonderful support staff I would like to know. Feel free to PM
    Thanks

sorry for all that situation ryanpgroovy but i dont think this is OCZ's fault maybe OCZ had to make this test long before to control that compound made by foreign manufacturer

and congrats to OCZ that they corrected this fault

This is of great credit to OCZ that they are doing such a thing to keep their solid customer base intact. If only all companies were like this and cared so much about their customers. Honesty is one of thing that makes good companies stand out from the pack, you've certainly addressed that here.

I would like to commend OCZ for investigating this once I brought it to their attention and commend OCZ's quick action. I truly was shocked to discover the absence of Silver and I am truly grateful for OCZ's Owner and Staff to quickly find a remedy.

I will write an article or an editorial to praise OCZ's actions shortly. OCZ did not turn a blind eye to this situation like Compusa has, and continues to do.

A++ Company there. That's a lot of $$ they are going to spend to make it right. The shipping alone!!!! The Tshirts and heatsinks especially!!!

As far as COMPUSA goes. You all i can say are beat. I've been screwed on the last 4 rebates from there. They never honor anything. I dont go there anymore, Even if i really do need something that day!!! And try and take anything back there!!!!

I've got silver paste out the $(#*$ here. when OCZ Ultra 3 comes out i'll give it a shot.

    OCZ
Well when they develop that they should mail me a squirt in a plastic baggie before it hits the market, I will put a drop of silver testing solution on it so we can eliminate this sort of thing in the future

Highly accurate Lab Testing like I had done costs about $500 per sample. But my drop test I will do for free, it's less scientific but it does the job.

Anyway my hats off to OCZ for doing the right thing for the Overclocking community.

At least wait until they've honored a single return before writing such praise... maybe a follow up in a month or so?

Pinky: "So Brain, what we gonna do tonight?"

Da Brain "Same thing we do every 22nd day of the month... Hand compusa their own arse."

Pinky "But how we gonna get them to give it to us?"

Da Brain "They already have Pinky, they already have..."

It is very refreshing to see a company accept responsibility like this and do the right thing (recall) instead of handing consumers a load of steaming B.S. like some other companies do. Mistakes are made, it's what is done afterwards that shows what a company is made of. OCZ has the right stuff!

How many of you were around 1.5 years ago when there was the last OCZ drama?? Anyone? ...

    I wonder who makes CompUSSR's j0nx?
It's the same sweat shop manufacturer OCZ got theirs from. Best Buy pulled theirs, and I'm willing to be they were being sold the same crap.

I was here...what's your point? Are you one of those guys who are still blasting them for something that happened a year and a half ago? A lot has changed since then, where have you been since then?
If they don't hold up their promises on the recall, then you can blast them for it. I would advise you to wait and see what happens before you start bad mouthing them for something that happened a year and a half ago.
If they don't do the right thing, I will be right beside you man.

Anyway, I'm not here to slander (they do most of the damage to their reputation on their own), but I would question why anyone would want to continue carrying a tatterred flag of a fallen enterprise...

Dude, I've been 'around' long enough and don't just talk for sake of talking... ask your moderating peers who Pinky is, k?

    Pinky,

I've been around too and I know who you are. I still don't get your point. I'm just tired of people dragging up the past all the time. At one time I swore I would never buy from them again. I watched them turn things around in the last year and I'm impressed at the job they have done. I use their memory and it's top shelf stuff. Their customer service has gone from terrible to excellent in the last year. All I'm saying is to give them a chance to show us what they are going to do before you slam them based on something that happened a year and a half ago. If they don't do what they say they are going to do about this, then I will be on the front line :banana::banana::banana::banana:ing about them right beside you.

I can only go by my own expierence in dealing with them and what I read in here. Have I just been lucky to be so happy with their products and service?

OCZ's commitment to thier customers is a nice reminder that not all companys are after your dollar first, and just looking to push you out the door for the next guy in line with $.

PS. you guys make one hell of a DDR 3200 ECC

    Pinky/stoopid

I would like to remind you a LOT has changed since 18+months ago...Staff and a move with Ryan taking over again and a totally different attitude. If you wish to speak of this further i would request you mail Ryan directly..he will talk to you about this and explain what has been done to turn things round.

Ask ANYONE on Xtreme what the customer service is like from OCZ now...Xtreme even asked we opened an official forum here as we are respected so much. I monitor 23 forums now looking for people with issues...normally offering assistance before they have even asked for help..just because i don't do this on the overclockers.com forum doesn't mean we don't care though..all it takes is for you guys to drop by one of the other forums and ask for assistance.

    TheDude

I thank you for you kind words and help here on Xtreme..I would also like to reasure everyone that if you choose to return your compound you will be treated well..your custom matters and we would like to to insure you shop with us again.
