    128MB 9800XT Bios?

I've found some "fake 128MB 9800XT bioses floating aroun 3DMaxx recenlty & tried to flash my 9800pro but no go. Screen was playning checkers with me.

    My question is:
Has anyone in XS have the commections to get a original 128MB 9800XT bios?

I've seen a lot of advertisements for 128MB 9800XTbut can't seem to find the original ones , not the 9800pro bios rejigged.

I know that there are some ppl here that have a lot of connections so am asking anyone to get a hold of the bios for us to try out.

Imagine that, XS Forums was the first to post up the true 128MB 9800XT bios for everyone.

There's a challenge for ya. Especially the blokes that have connections withinthe IT industry.

    Please????

    Cheers

All these fakes are made by me. Genuine 9800XT bios wouldnt do anything that XT modded Pro bios wouldnt do...

    The Stilt,
sorry if I've insulted you in any way. pls accept my apologies if you felt insulted by any comments from me.

    Mine's a Powercolor 9800pro doing 502/806 (Vgpu & Vdd mods).
I treid the 128MBXT.rom & was playing checkers on my screen.

    One Q:
Which one would you recommend to suit my 9800pro?

I/m not really worried since I can get the clocks I'm getting but wouldn't mind a 500 points boost.
Maybe I'll chuck my Vapo Classic onto it for more..hehehehehe

    BTW what's"E-Bin"?

    Hey The Stilt,
I just tried the Powercolor.9800XT.128MB.Samsung.05.23.bin & you're right, it works good.

    Thanks for the bioses m8.
    Gotta try the Powercolor.9800XT.128MB.Samsung.E-Die.bin
now as well as mod the bios for Cas 1instead of Cas 2 & see how it goes.
    Will report back my findings.

    Cheers.

    OOps Double post

    Heya The Stilt,
I hope you don't mind that I linked to your page for users at OCAU to try if they liked.

Also, I wanna try Cas 1 if possible. Have you tried Cas 1?

Apart from my first hiccup. Your bios seems fine.

    Congratulations M8.
I haven't tried benching noth my old 9800pro bios against you new one but will do so soon & post some results.

    Thanks Again
    Minh

    edit:
no performance gains with my card. I ran both bios at 412/730 & the 9800pro bios beat the 9800XT by a few points..
    20314 (XT) against 20334

Good for people who don't like OCing but not good once you compare it to a 9800pro at the same speeds. After all, it's just a modded 9800pro bios isn't it? I haven't seen any 128MB 9800XT for sale. Seen some ads in the magazines from Sapphire etc..

    There is no 128MB 9800XT.

The bios for the "128MB 9800XT" are 9800pro re-edited somehow.

All for show, I haven't gotten any better OC from using the 128MB 9800XT bios.

All that happens is you have to uninstall the 9800pro from your device manager, flash you card with the bios & your OS will recognise it as a "128MB 9800XT".

Can't use Overdrive either, not for OCing, just to check your temps as the 9800pro's don't have temp sensor.

Nah, nothing on the mem for me.

I didn't try all the bios that was there so i can't say for sure. The ones I tried gave me nothing except Windows recognising my 9800pro as a 9800XT.

I tried some benchies (3DMark) & the scores I got were within the error margin.

Before the flash the best I could do was 506/810, same after the flash.

Could work for you though. As long as ou back up your original & can flash blind, there's no hurt in trying it out.

I'll probably give some of the other bios there a shot when i have spare time. Kinda left the idea behind...
It's been around a while yet there doesn't seem to be too many ppl willing to give it a shot.

    Wonder why??
    Cheers,
    Minh

    Off topic:
Card is in my sig m8.
Actually, I'm not that happy with it, was thinking I could get more out of it with just WC but was not to be
Just plain old Asetek Waterchill setup for my 9800pro. Gotta get of my a$$ & get my Vapo Classic on it.
Only when benching do I take it that high. Got a temp sensor poking at the core to keep temps in check. I think the senosr is lying or not making good enough contact with the core, it stays on 32.5c thru to 39c Celsius.
The main thing stopping me from going ahead with the Vapo/9800pro cooling is that it's damn hard to get 2 vapo's in 1 case. Can be done but I ain't going w/out decent sound & other PCI doodads.

    On Topic:
I tried flashing with the Powercolor 128MB Samsung E-Die bios & my OC wasn't as high as it was with my original bios (both from the same date btw).
I'm in the middle of trying to get 24K once again, this time with the GeCube 9800eXtreme bios. This one seems to be helping me gain around 2Mhz on both the core & mem.
I couldn't even get 500/800 with the 9800XT bios w/out it artifacting like crazy. That's around 5 diff 9800XT bios I've tried now. Ranging from Powercolor, BBA, Sapphire inc the E-Die bios...

Once I get 24K I can either sell off this hardware & go the AMD64/9800XT (already got 9800XT but no mods as of yet) or go for gold with a Vapo 9800pro mod .

    Cheers,

Yep... I did the 9800xt bios flash. My card is gigabyte 9800pro 128mb version. It has samsung gc2a chip rated 2.2ns.

The vga works okay after the flash, but i've got strange artifacts in 3dmark03: white dots on elephant test and weird blazing artifacts in trolls jump test.

MHz wise..... nothing. The overclock mhz remain the same 439/371. This gives me 6800+ in 3dmark03.
    OC till 50
