Thumbs up Some more AMD/KX7 bandwidth goodness

    Hi guys

I hope you guys are all sitting down

I've been working diligently lately on some review material and last night did some bandwidth evals on a stick of ram I'm currently working with....its a widely available PC3200 stick...and does this stuff run. It does NOT like 1T command over about 203Mhz...but at 3.22v ran all the way to 226Mhz at cas 2, 4 way interleave, 2-5-2, Enhance dram enabled, 2T Dram access,Que Depth 4 and 2T command. I also am using my normal WPCrset tweaks 6A=FF and 93=FF.

I must say I anxiously await a KT-400 board..because if they scale better up the FSB WITHOUT AGP tearing...AMD will be definitely competing for top DDR bandwidth honors with the current crop of *ntel DDR systems. Check it out
PS: Oh yeah..almost forgot...Fast CPU decode worked too at 226Mhz
EDIT: This is Corsair XMS PC3200C2 Version 1.1

    Whoah!

    That's some nice bandwidth..... ...
I've got to get some good ram as well. I hope sticks coming my way shortly will be better than I've had to endure recently.

Did you say no tearing at that level?

Anyway congrats. They're good numbers MrIcee. Could make for some great Benchmarking.

They will fall at his feet....... But eBay @ZZHOLE still ripped me off!

    Thanks fellas

There was "some" tearing booting up starting at 223Mhz. No tearing while in the Windows2000 desktop. At 226Mhz..bootup tearing was heavy but none once to the desktop. I attempted 227 and 228Mhz..but rather than a ram inability...I believe its the boards limitation to go higher at this time.

Due to my testing several sticks of ram...I 'm not going to mention brands until all my data is gathered...but this is no mystery stick by any means...everyone carries it

I haven't tried to run 3DMark yet...but I believe that I'd have to drop back a couple Mhz to run stable. This is pure speculation at this juncture tho..so you'll have to wait until I start benching 3DMark

Yes..I use Sandra and 3Dmark Loops individually. if truth be known..I really haven't burned this stick as I usually do

Is that the 256? If I read coprrectly and it was the 3200. Which is the same as the 3000 just ran under different test specs according to Corsair. They charge more for the 3200 than the 3000, but it is the same ram. How about the 512 sticks?

how long is any ram going to last when sticking 3.22 volts up its arse? Im not happy about having to use 2.97 for this dtl crap just to get 190, but then my kx7 is crap cos itll do 190 at cas2, 4way, 3/6/3 enhance on, 2t access and 1t command rate, which is max apart from 3/6/3. and yet it wont even boot at 197 on the slowest possible timings, the boards gotta be a pile of crap.

My Samsung PC2700 an Mushkin PC3200 at 217fsb at 2.85v. Not as good as MrIcee but not bad either. Maybe next stick will be Corsair.

MrIcee what can I say? Your memory bandwidth score is one of the largest I have ever seen, if not the largest. I think I speak for all KX7 owners when I say thanks for all the time and effort you put into your reviews. I learn something new about my KX7 every time I read one of your posts. (mods, memory settings, etc...)

    Thanks

    Thank you my friend

I love this hobby and I enjoy having the chance and pleasure to test this stuff for our site, to its Xtreme limits. OPP and DDTUNG and myself have been holding the torch for all the AMD faithful for a long time....and will continue to do so, even as the Mhz chips have been down for us...we strive to develop every ounce of bandwidth and performance that these systems are capable of. I stand by AMD faithfully...and I can tell you...the time is almost here for the pendulum to swing back in our court for some benching dominance again....keep the faith and stay tuned

Next up fella's....a retail stick of OCZ PC3200 Revision 2, utilizing the same chips as the Corsair. Before you start laughing...hang on to your azz's...this stuff is looking good too...maybe the breakthru these guys need.I'll be back soon with some benches

WOW thats some fast DDR memory..I thought me scoring 2900/2700 was good. Then I see what you did and IM thinking I don't have a fast computer no more, lol. I was just wondering what this meant:

I also am using my normal WPCrset tweaks 6A=FF and 93=FF
also would me going from running 196 fsb(currently) at 2.5,3,3,6, , 4 way interleave, Enhance dram enabled, 2T Dram access,Que Depth 4 and 2T command to being able to run same setting but timings 2,2,2,5,2 help my 3dmark score at all? Im at 339/775 on My card and have 13k so far, but was expecting 14k.

Abit has some new Kt400 mobos on their site, looks like we need a few of those and some of the new XP2600s coming out, of course along with some of your killer memory there Randi
Nice work my friend The highest AMD benches I've ever seen

Vary vary nice! Corsair does make some kick ass memory. My xms3000 has run at 223 @ cas2 itself, but I had to pull back on the other timings. I'm going to run it in my brand spankin new KX7-333R along w/ my 2200+ and see what I can do

I have my KX7 installed. Gonna update the bios unless 9k is the newest... Running smoothly so far. Gonna start tweaking

9K is the newest my friend

    OPP

Thank you my man Getting kudos from the guru himself is what its all about...especially since the prior highest AMD benches I ever saw were produced on your system This Corsair is very good...but does not like 1T command above 203Mhz. I'm not complaining tho...because this ram using Winbond revision B chips runs all the way to the KX7's FSB limit. This ram will go higher OPP..I'm sure on an *ntel DDR board you could go places At 226Mhz...the AGP tearing is terrible while booting....but none at the desktop. At 227Mhz..the PCI bus is so high it will stop at detecting my hard drives....not stop for any other reason.

And yes my friend....those KT-400 boards are needed now..along with the 2600+'s....I think feel some serious 3Dmark benching coming

Ok...heres my next memory up to bat...OCZ's PC3200 revision 2..which also has the Winbond revision B chips @ 5ns....starting and passing at 220Mhz
