    Another P4 Extreme Edition Arrives :)

    Morning guys,

    Yep if you dont know by now, I scooped up the P4 3.2 EE that Pluscorp were able to get thier hands on. It has been pretty exciting for me. Being a part of history is a pretty good buzz. These are the first of thier kind to be released and hopefully this starts of a new trend for high end Intel chips :thumbup:

    The courier went to the house nextdoor by accident and by 9:40 the cpu was in my hands. Ive opened her up and was greeted to not an ugly orange box, but a nice looking Blue and Black box

    Its a bloody Costa Rica - but the last Costa I had was an aweeeeesome 2.4 the SL6Z3, which kinda leads you to believe that those 2.4 were based on the EE if they were boxed at same joint but lets not go there Nice recent pack date also of 10 November and the build week is 33.

    The heatsink I think is just a normal 3.0/3.2C default HS. It doesnt have the black tim on it like usual, but a piece of that clear grey rubber stuff on the base, which is copper for a small section of cpu contact area

    It came with a nice shiny EE sticker. I remember someone asked if they could have it. Well Im going to have to say NO cos I thought it would be a simple P4 sticker but nah its a special EE one as can be seen here;

    My dilema now is this guys. Do I waste it and put it in the IS7 now for some quick testing? Or do I quickly duck out and grab a MAX3? The Asus is on RMA and looks like it might be another week, and I was tempted to maybe try an Abit again.....3 votes and Ill go and grab one....my vote is already 1 so 2 more needed :thumbup:

    Id like to say thanks to Pluscorp - Nigel in particular - for taking the effort and time to look for this cpu as soon as they landed. Without them this cpu would not be in my hands and for this I thank you.

    To all the others, if I hear one comment that even remotely hints at the costs or anything along that line, the post will be reported and I will get very upset with you.....just some respect thats all I ask that you dont sour my thread or my excitement

    Now, with all of that out of the way I can go and have my morning cup of tea and then Ill probably duck over and grab the MAX3 :thumbup:

    Cheers guys

    hehehehe

    Got it setup on the bench and the Asus isnt recognising the cpu. It just sits there with the monitor flicking but the keyboard flashes.

    I dont know what bios is on it so I might thro the 2.4 back in and see and if need be flash to 1011 and if that doesnt work then I guess I might try the infamous 1013 bios

    I guess I could try the IS7 still cos thats still in the case :thumbsup:

    ill try a bios update then see

    The MAX3 has a lot of potential, especially if Hipro posts all of his vmod's.

    I am taking her apart now and putting in the prommy. Prob will take an hour or so but I want to be up by 11 not rushed, but I doubt it will be that...more like 1 :thumbup: Ill also install Windows again as Im just using the old IS7 install still

    Here is the max OC i got on air. Didnt try higher. Air was to just see what they did and make sure it had no hassles.

    225fsb using 1.70bios - idles at 1.70 but as you can see from the pic, it drooops alot. 1.60 bios got up to test 30 but then failed. 1.65 wouldnt let the pc get into windows and then i settled on 1.70

    and here was 3dmark with the same cpu oc as above and vid card at 450/370;

    Didnt run any other benches besides these at this speed. As mentioned before, just going straight to the prommy now. 3.6 on air needed 1.70 bios so Im thinking that an aim of about 3.9 for now at same vcore isnt asking for too much :thumbup:

    Back later guys

    ps
    I think Im using bios 1009, but havnt really looked hard enough yet. Wont change it if its workling as it should be
