Question Mushkin PC3500 Level II BH-5 performance...?

Hello people i'm new to the forums, having been recommended here by Drozdov over at Extreme Overclocking forums, so nice to meet you all and I look forward to picking your collective brains

My question is, i'm getting some PC3500 Mushkin Level II w. BH-5's and I hear they are supposed to be good overclockers.

So anyone have or used these Mushkin sticks and what can I expect out of them? What have you had ort seen out of them? They don't arrive for a few days so i'm just getting an idea of what to expect on my ABIT NF7-S v2.0.

    Cheers!

I'm obviously running OCZ, so I can't speak from experience, but from what I have seen I reckon you could be looking at about 230MHz on an unmodded board, and with a modded board, most likely higher.

Although it does kind of depend on your board, some will run with high FSB's, some won't, but with the Mushkin BH-5, you should be able to max out the board no problem.
I've heard it all, I've seen it all, I've done it all. I just don't remember any of it.

Heh, so I take it it will be very nice then.

I've just managed to get hold of another 1800+ DLT3C too so I'll be testing that to see if it can outperform my current one which seems stuck at 11*200.

Seems strange though, my CPU will do 11*200 @ 1.65v no problems, but when I raise the multi even a notch it randomly reboots or shuts down with a siren no matter what voltage I stick into it.

Is that me hitting the limit of my CPU or is it the result of something else?

My PSU is a meaty one, and I have an SK-7, although the fan on it is quite a weak 30CFM one that is due to be replaced.

Any ideas what it could be? My mobo?

Maybee L12 mod will help with the FSB.

Id expect mushkin BH5 to be osme of the very best you can buy.
Mixing memory sticks/types may be a bad idea (looking at your sig) Try the mushkin on its own.

Is it just when you change the multiplier or voltage also?

A bit of both really, but the multiplier seems to be the main culprit. Too much voltage and the siren goes off, but i'm usually OK up to 1.85v. Problem is 1.85v doesnt seem to be enough for any multiplier above 11x

I have another 1800+ DLT3C coming soon so i'll test my current one and the new one with the Mushkin Level II i'm getting and see if it makes a difference.

I'm using BIOS 1.8 if that makes a difference. Strange, I never imagined the NF7-S 2.0 would have quite so many glitches

Just received the new CPU from the postie and the stepping is...

    AXDA1800DLT3C 9885366270121 JIUHB0321XPMW

Interestingly, AMD CPU decoder says my new CPU is downgraded from a 2700+, whereas my old CPU was supposedly downgraded from a 2500+

    Previous CPU stepping:
    AXDA 1800DLT3C 9567346250245 JIUHB 0320UPMW

Whether this makes a difference is yet to be seen...

Muskin level2 PC3500 has handpicked BH-5 chips...i can only imagine what it will do with some voltage up it's ass!

My cheapass TwinMos BH-5 is doing 242 11-2-2-2.0 with 3.2V and i think it will do even higher, the mobo just won't let me.

BH-5 is still the best for Nforce 2 boards asking me.

    nother question ...

is it worth the extra 40 or so bucks for the mushkin instead of hyper x? afaik the only difference is brand and that the chips are hand picked w/ mushkin

I guess these chips weren't handpicked for nothing....Mushkin took only the very best BH-5 chips, if you're planning to OC the hell out of your system it could be worth the money.
