    Kingston HyperX no good ??

    I have 2 x 256 sticks of Kingston HyperX PC3500, part no, KHX3500K2/512.

I can get them to run 1:1 at 232 mhz which is fine, however I can't get them to run asynch at 5:4 or 3:2, the most I can get is 208 Mhz which is bad.

I have some cr&ppy el-cheapo no-name pc3200 that will run asynch 220 Mhz no problem.

The question is, why will the Kingston run high fsb 1:1 but not asynch.

BTW it will run 1:1 232Mhz at 2-7-3-3.

    Any ideas ??

MoBo is IC-7 with vdd mod, voltage makes no difference, I have tried up to 2.9 with no luck.

not sure there. Mine run 290 5:4 no problems. Maybe your hyperx has the ch-5 chips on it, which I hear has problems async in the IC7 and some other boards.

    Same problem for me.
Bought me 2*512MB HyperX PC3500 sticks and I can't run at +250Mhz, with either 3:2 or 5:4 settings on my IC7-G.
Plain CH5 crap chips on them, just like Twinmos is using these now.
    And way overprized.

    Guess you are.
I bought 4 512MB sticks in total, from 2 different persons over at a German forum.

2 sticks seem to have the BH5 chips, because the guy who has them now, can run at 275FSb, 5:4 and fastest settings.

Looks like I got the bad ones.

    Thanks guys
It looks like these 2 sticks are going back then.
I looked at the el-cheapo ram that I have and it's A-data PC 3200, cost was £120 for a gig, I guess I'll use them

Hm, me and a friend of mine have exactly the same problem. Kingston HyperX PC3500 but with the ASUS P4P800. FSB won't go farther than 255MHz (stable) with the divider on 5:4.
He also tried Corsair PC3700, but still has the same problem.

Do you think this issue will / can be resolved by a BIOS patch?

Or which PC3500 / PC3700 memory sticks does not use those chips (without getting as expensive as OCZ)?

supposedly abit says it is working on a fix for it's bios' so I am sure Asus is also. I would imagine since these CH-5 chips are ebing so widely used, they will have to find a fix for it.

Uhm, supposedly? I'm on the verge of ordering some new GeiL sticks. I tried the 1010 BETA 6 BIOS today and it still won't work.
Of course, if they come up with a fix then that's perfect!

Do you have any source or any idea when to expect the fix? And whether it's really true? Sounds great!
