    Talking 250FSB all air!!

So here is the deal. I got myself an Abit NF7-S rev 1.2 about 3 weeks ago and have been playing around since then. I have done vdd, vdimm and mosfet cooling mods as well as puting on a new NB cooler.

I had a 256MB stick of OCZ pc3500EL that was about 3 months old that would do 240Mhz stable on this board with 3.25V but anything above that wasn't stable.

Here is my new NB cooler. Its a thermaltake SK-6 with a 60mm fan.

Mosfet cooling (has a 60mm fan over it)

So after that I am now running at 250FSB

    vdd@2.1V
    vdimm@3.15V
    vcore@1.87V
CPU is an XP 1700+ 0308XPMW DLTC3 cooled with alpha pal 8045

    Some benchmark action

Gaming is a go but my usb, nic and sound all end up dying after a few mins. So I think I will need to throw the old NB cooled onto the SB because my current mod isn't cutting it

I'd like to know this as well. I am thinking of strapping a spare heatsink on a NB soon, and I was gonna try shoe string but the Zip Tie thing might be a little better idea I was going to reinforce it with Glue as well to be safe, but I thought it would be pretty secure.

    thats pretty sweet!

Spec3, did you have to mod the standoffs on the 8045 to get it to fit?

When modding a p4 cooler to the nf7 nb i found screws to be a lot better. Zip tie would slide down when upright. All u have to do is the old coolere as a templet and drill holes in ur heatsink. U can then get a LOT of pressure on the nb. The only thing that sux is that resistor next to the nb that gets in the way... how did the sk-6 clear the resistor? did u mod the heatsink? i cut a notch in mine.

Nice OC...and nice cooling...just becareful or you will do what I did on my first 8RDA+...you will see the capacitor I circled next to your HS you have on the NB...my first HS was like that and the HS melted the capacitor...just make sure there is plenty of room between the two...and no my HS was not touching the capacitor either...

    BTW - The 8RDA+ lasted about 2 weeks then fired...And also...nice Iwill fan ...

    Holy :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:! Well done there!

Given me a whole new boost of confidence when my replacement 1.2 gets here, a pelt'd n/b should do that shouldn't ? With 2v+?

I have a cheap aluminum HS/F on my NB and an SK6 lying around....probably should have used the copper. I attached with t-grease in center and 1 dot of super glue on each corner. Seems to be doing the job...was a tight fit on NF-S

Yeah, I would at least try getting a better fan on that SB, if not a better HS. That should help some with your sound and UBS issues, but at 250, I'm not sure anything will cure them all other than getting separate cards and not using the onboard stuff..

    Ram timings were 3-2-2 cl2.5

The SK-6 os held on with a zip tie that I had to cut down a little to get it through the holes.

Nice. Makes me jealous. Did you tear off the green "NF7S" sticker on the "south-south-bridge" or did it come like that? I wonder what week NBs you aircooled 250 FSB guys have, that probably played a part as well.

Very impressive. I wish my 8rda could do things like that. It has issues at 200 fsb, even with the vdd mod.
