water cooling noob advice please

Hi,

New to watercooling have read through the sticky threads.

I am being offered a few items that are used/nearly new.

The components will be used for cooling my AMD 64X2 4800 cpu.

I have a choice of

Dangerden D5 12vpump (only 2 months old)

Aquaextreme 50Z-DC12 Inline Pump (not sure of the age)

Storm CPU block

I will go for 1/2" fiitings, with either of the above pumps, I am planning on using a PA120.3 rad with these. Are mounting kits available for mounting the rad on the outside rear of my case (Silverstone TJ-05), The case is pretty full with my 1900'x in Crossfire, 2 hd's in raid, floppy, dvd drive, Tagan 900w psu with a lot of surplas sata cable connectors in a bunch at the top of the case. I have room for everything else but mounting the rad would be tricky, requiring a lot of work.

I have room for a bay res, or even dual bay res, I assume there will be no advantage going for the dual res, are the standard cylindar types easier to bleed due to easier access (depending on mounting of course)?

Tubing wise how many feet are a safe length to but for a new build (was thinking of around 12ft)?

How many hose clips should I order minimum, reading the sticky's it appears that the classic steel screw types are safest?

Is there anything else I would need to have?

One more question which perhaps deserves a thread of it's own elsewhere, I will probably upgrade to Conroe at some point (perhaps early next year), given that the temps are lower as they are less power hungry cpu's, will water cooling still provide the benefits in terms of overclocks and stability? Initial tests show that the gap has closed somewhat between air and water cooling on these newer cpu's (noise performance aside).

If you have a 120mm fan ount on the rear, you can use a swiftech radbox to hang it your PA off it.

For a 120.3, id take the D5.

Yeah, 10-15ft is a good lenght to buy for tubing.

If you go for bay res you want the double-height one. Single-height will breath air with a strong pump like a D5. Personally I prefer t-lnes, but i can see the aestetic point of the bay res.

Yeah, worm drive and steel screw are the best compromise of safety and ease of aquisition. get 2 for every item in your loop + a couple spare.

As for conroe, there's no way to know how temperature-limited they are (yet), but keep in mind when you overclock them the gap between air and water will widen, as the deltas remain much smaller with water.
