    [Denny] Merom T7400 ES full result @ 2.16, 2.6 and 2.9G

    http://www.iamxtreme.com/
i also post in my website

    TESTING

Since Merom and Conroe is very similar, we over clock T7400 to 2.6G and 2.9G and we can MAYBE consider as Conroe reference. Also, we add in the little brother of T7400, Yonah T2600, to compare what is performance gain between them.

    CPU MARK
    HIGHER IS BETTER

As we expect, T7400 is better than T2600 at same speed. Even 2.9G T7400 out perform T2600 3G. We believe the gap between two CPU is about 200MHz.

    SUPER PI 32M
    LOWER IS BETTER

We see under same speed, T7400 is about faster then T2600 about 40sec. As we increases the FSB, the performance gain for T7400 is much better than T2600.

    3DMark01
    HIGHER IS BETTER
    1024 X 768

3Dmark01 is very depending on CPU graphical calculation power. It clears shows T2600 under 3G is slower than T7400 on 2.6G.

    3DMark03
    HIGHER IS BETTER
    1024 X 768

3Dmark03 always very depends on CPU graphical power too. However, it also stresses CPU more than any other kind of FutureMark products. The weird thing is T7400 likes 3Dmark03 very much. Even 2.16G over perform T2600 at 3G.

    3DMark05
    HIGHER IS BETTER
    1024 X 768

3Dmark05 is more depending on the video card but still relate to the processing speed of CPU. The result closer to 3Dmark01 and super pi 32M. T7400 out perform T2600 under same speed even T7400 is 400MHz slower.

    3DMark06
    HIGHER IS BETTER
    1280 X 1024 32Bit

Same thing happens in 3Dmark06 also. But this time T2600 at 3G is better than T7400 at 2.6G, but it is only about 60 point more for 400MHz difference. For their default speed is about 100point difference.

    Sandra CPU Arithmetic Benchmark
    HIGHER IS BETTER

Now we probably knows why 2.6G T7400 can out perform 3G T2600. T7400 at 2.6G score of ALU and iSSE2 is much faster than T2600 at 3G

    Sandra CPU Multi-Media Benchmark
    HIGHER IS BETTER

Well, from this we can tell that under multi-media bench, the result is about the same as we see as other benchmarks.

    Cinebench CPU Benchmark
    HIGHER IS BETTER

Another benchmarks back up our thought, when FSB increases, the gap gets larger between T7400 and T2600! At default speed, only about 9 point different between each. However as FSB and bus speed increases, the Merom like the unleash monster, it gets even 60 points compare with 2.9G T7400 and 3G T2600

    F.E.A.R Benchmark*
    HIGHER IS BETTER
    1152 X 864, FSAA 4X, Anisotropic 16X

    FARCRY Benchmark**
    HIGHER IS BETTER
    1280 X 1024, D3D encode, Antialising 8X, AF 16X

    Quake4 Benchmark***
    HIGHER IS BETTER
    1280 X 1024, Ultra Quality, Anisotropic 16X, Antialising 4X, SMP enable

*F.E.A.R Benchmark using its build in test run

Denny... Again! Hands down comparison, bud Merom @ 2.93GHz sounds like a plan, doesn't it?
Thanks for putting so much effort and sharing your results here!
No doubt, it's the most comprehensive preview of new Merom that XS has seen so far

Sorry, but why the games results on your page are differed from the results you posted here? Results themselves also a little strange - for example in F.E.A.R. they are distinguished only by 1 FPS.

nice work on the Merom performance charts Denny,
    look at the L2-4096 .

The T7400 looks very promising, I have to grab one.

    well i had 4 pentium mobile chips (750, 730, 780, 770)
every one did almost 300fsb (chips were 133fsb def) - is this fsb wall ??
    I don't think so ...

Yonah and meron - agree - fsb wall there is

Thanks for sharing your results, guess2098, however, I have a minor quibble about some of your graphs: Could you please update them so they ALL start their scales at "0"?

It's kinda rediculous to have a graph show 3 times the bar length for a 2,5% increase in performance. (as it does for FEAR)

Again, thanks for testing and sharing your results with us!

    its all bout vcca
reducing it help to reduce tdp a lot imo => mobile chip needs to stay cool.
give George some time and AOpen board and he'll fix that for sure ))
i'd send him a board, but we dont have one here ((

    Nice results man.
As for Merom having FSB wall that might not be true at all. Its more like chipset screws up. Lets wait for some NB vmods or diferent Mb's.

hm, but do current Retail Yonah Chips do have this FSB-Wall as well? thought the Yonah WRs were made with over 300 FSBs?

is there a possibility that further Meroms will go beyond 300 as well?

I wanted to buy a Conroe, but the lower Multi might affect much higher OC results... (still not sure what to buy, but I don't like CPUs without a IHS... destroyed my Celeron M on CT479 once... *doh*)

€: sry, I forgot: nice results and a good Comparison thanks alot!
Notice any grammar or spelling mistakes? Feel free to correct me! Thanks
