When I use Vsync in this game the FPS lies constantly on 43. Normally it would be 85 fps max when the monitor is set to 85Hz.
Would be nice if some1 especially with an Nvidia gfx card and a CRT monitor could try to first load a savegame with vsync on and use the fps meter (write "tdt" in the console) to check out the fps rate. Then load the same savegame but with vsync turned off and check if the fps rate differs.
I've never ran into this problem before but when I googled I find that it might have to do with Vsync and certain games in D3D mode that would require triple buffering in order for the fps not to drop. For Nvidia cards it seems like you have to have DXTweaker and .NET frameworks installed. ATI users can activate/deactivate triple buffering through the ATI tray.
However, would be nice if some1 could try this out. Without Vsync on I seem to suffer from the "tearing" effect in this game and I notice it best when I'm strafing. It's the 1st game I've played where I actually notice the "tearing".
Added some pictures below with vsync both on and off. It seems like it doesn't only limit the fps at 43 but also run constantly slower out in the wild where fps goes below 43. In areas where I get 28 - 30 fps with vsync off I seem to get 21 - 23 fps with vsync activated for example.
EDIT: Weird, I just noticed that indoors in cottages/houses in towns I get up to 85 fps while out in the wild and caves I get max 43 fps even if I'm looking at the ground with vsync activated.
