Performance PC's not so great service

I got a reservoir for a second system and it came very cracked, and it would be obious it would leak. The unit was obviously dropped with signs of spidering cracks. I didn't use the unit and it will cost me $7.00 dollars to ship back a mistake that they deny that they did. Bad Performance PC's. I won't be buying fragile things from them in the future

    This is their responding email:

Well that is how it came to us from manufacturer and we do not have time to
inspect everything out of the packing prior to shipment. So industry
standard practice is you pay to ship to us and we pay to ship back to you.

    Best Regards,

    Hank Baron

Damn, I like buying from performance-pcs, and that just lowered my expectations from them. That email is so rude. I bet the guys from Jab-Tech would've never responded like that. Tsk Tsk.

If you said it had been dammaged in shipping, it would have just been a claim with UPS and you wouldnt have had to pay any money...

But I would have to agree the email wasnt as warm and fuzzy as it could have been.

I am a very satisfied customer of Performance-PCs as well, and have only the best to say about the shop and staff.

The way I see it is if they shipped a cracked part to you. (It did not crack in transit) they should pay the $7 shipping, not you.
The excuse about not having time to inspect the package before they ship it out to you is just plain LAME! It's their responsibility to make sure the part is in good condition before they ship it to a customer. They need to do whatever they need to do to make time for that. Even if they need to hire an inspector and raise their prices a little to pay his salary. Whatever the solution is...it's on them to find a way to correct this problem, not the customer. They should go back on the manufacturer who shipped the defective part to them.
Seems they have found a great way to ruin an excellent reputation if this sort of thing keeps up. I'm both surprised and dismayed to read that email.

actually, your not the only one that got a not so warm email from them. When I ordered my PA 120.3, they listed 5/8" barbs as an option so that's what I thought I was getting. well I got nylon 1/2" instead, which is ok, just not what I ordered. I sent an email inquiring about that. Instead of just saying it was a mistake, that same person actually arugued with me over why I neede 5/8" barbs, told me that 1/2 would be fine, I was like wtf... anyway, I won't be ordering anything again because of that. He did finally say it was a mistake after 4 emails, but c'mon, should I need to explain why I want the barbs? It was a bit insulting honestly. When it comes down to it, dismissing someone's issue until the end isn't really good edicate. 1 emailing saying it was a mistake in listing would have been fine with me really. In your case, I think they should replace it anyway to keep a customer, that's what I would do, but whatever, it's their rep, not mine on the line.

I agree with you. Though I'm not going to really bother with 7 bucks, it just shows me that they are not willing to satisfy all their buyers. The thing that shocked me was that they blamed this on sombody else, rather than saying it was their fault.

//Rant-On// If They tryed that with me i would not put up with it at all, after all ive sold Pc watercooling parts in the past and i busted my ars for each and every sale ,everything i sold was handmade by me (before it went mainstream) my reputation is still great today because of it. I wont be shopping there anytime soon.good luck, its the principle of the thing at this point.Good luck though..//Rant-Off//

Hmm, I have only ordered from them once so far, and it was a very good experience, they shipped my order out FAST.
JabTech - They rock, I will order from them a lot in the future
I was also VERY impressed with McMaster, my order went through Monday morning and I had it at around noon on Tuesday!

Actually, I haven't had any real horrible experiences with online retailers. Monarch pissed me off one time I bought an item listed as "in stock" and it turned out to be out of stock, and I had to wait for a while, but otherwise they have been good to me too.

Woot! Danger Den and FedEx rock too! My PA120-3 just showed up a day early

I was shocked by McMaster. I have never had such good service. I expected what I bought to arrive 3 days later, only to find the product at my doorstep the very next evening.

I bought a custom sleeved PCP&C PSU from them. When I received it I noticed it was scratched. Sent an email and was told that PCP&C scratched it not them. In addition to that the sleeving was also frayed and ripped in one place. The email response I got wasn't very customer friendly. I haven't ordered since.

The email response does seem "short", but I think we need to see the mail that was sent to Performance PC's before we pass juedgement on Hank.

I've been on Hank's end of these situations before, and although a level of professionalism needs to be maintained, a response like Hank's wouldn't be unusual if the email he received was along the lines of.....

"I received a damaged reservoir today. How can you guys be so incompetent as to ship physically damaged product?!? I demand a call tag to pick this part up immediately and expect a replacement to be shipped free of charge as soon as possible."

    It happens.

I've spent more money at Performance-PCs alone than what most people will spend on a complete system and have had nothing short of a tremendous experience each and every time. Fastest shipping for a great price (spare McMaster), impeccible packaging and support (for custom orders), Hank's always friendly to me (albeit busy a lot it seems....probably the cause of the curtness of that email), and all the cabled products are sleeved

Sorry about that email, but it is exceedingly likely that Hank's telling the truth (how would it benefit them to send out a busted res?). They should not cover the shipping, IMO (the only RMA that ever has for me is Team Group...and it was shocking), as it would only raise total cost for every product (paying shipping both ways adds up).

Ya, I've had great experiances with them, they go the extra mile to make me happy...

No customs charges, fast shipping, email correspondence, etc.

Just wish they had SM Yates so I wouldn't have to sleeve them myself from Petra's :p
