7600GT has 12 pipes, right? Wrong

It has 16, but 4 are turned off. Run Rivatuner on it and see for yourself Can't be unlocked by software and maybe at all

    7600GTX might be coming later

ya maybe they made is originally as a 16 pipe card to have somethign to counter a possible X1700 orso.
16 pipes arent needed atm as it seems 12 pipes are good enough to beat the x1600xt and even to give some resistence to the X1800GTO.

    DaWan from what i've been seeing they're a little low... XFX 7600GT (590/1.6 vs the reference 560/1.4) does 6200 3DMark05 and 3200 3DMark06 on a FX-60... I can do that with my 6800GS...

Well, I'd consider the stock clocks of the 'overclock' cards as still stock. We have yet to see how much the 7600GT has left in it as well

6800GS should be better: 256-bit memory.

The 7600 won't have 256bits bus cause of price... They should go 150$ in a few months... And there they'll win at price/performance ratio with any X1800GTO... At least that's what i think...

Ivan the 7600GT has way higher clocks to compensate the 128bits bus... Do the mat and @ 1.6Ghz the bandwith won't be too different from the 6800GS @ 1100 or 1200... And the core is exactly the same 12,5 (Only 90nm vs 110nm) so it reaches higher clocks... My XFX without mods stock cooled (even that sucky thermal pad) does 535 MAX, the 7600 begins @ 560 (or 590 for the overclocked versions)

I believe the 7600GT is a better card than the 6800GS... (Well, a 600/1400 6800GS is nice too, but involves a vmod :P)

Good to hear, the 7600GT will like a Vmod too i think

Isn't the G73(7600GT) half of a G71. If the G73 has 16pipes that might mean that the G71 has 32piplines.
Some thing against that would be that the transister count went down from the G70 to G71 and unless nvidia didn't count the extra transisters there would be no way that nVidia could fight 8 more pipes in.
    Just some food for thought.

Yeah Im not sure what OP is talking about. I have a 7600gt right here and riva doesnt recognize it. That being said I am on the 83.91 drivers cause I heard there were bugs with the 7600gt and the 84.2 drivers, but I will try those and check it out.

You need a Beta rivatuner that's not public. Next release candidate 15.9 will support it and show that info.
