    Temp. problem 170 vs 165

Is 170 MUCH hotter than 165?

I am using the same aircooling, heatsink triple checked and have a good contact using AS 5
My 165 (CCBWE 0551 VPMW) doing 2400mhz idle 30-33c (so i can turn the fan off), full load (double prime) 40-45c

BUT my 170 (CCB1E 0550 VPMW ) doing stock idle 38-40 idle, get to 45 idle if i turn the fan off, full load hitting (double prime) 49-51

The question is: why there are so much heat scaling for x1 multi?
    Say no dubs ...it SUCKS

I'm not sure, but you may be interested to know that my 170 0550VPMW loads higher than my 165s do, at the same Mhz and volts.

SAME with me here...what worries is the max tcase is the same (49C),thats worries me, not to mention i live in a tropical island, which 30-35 room temperature are common everyday afraid of losing the chips

Maybe it has more to do with the silicon and the fab process variations than with the multi. If it were for the multi, all those FX-57 that break WR with x17 would be insanely hot.

And being the Max Tcase 49c (as mine and many 0550 / 0551) is not the temp where the core burns but (thats MY conclusion without any proof, so take it with a grain of salt) it's the temp where the core surely makes errors.

At least mine fails prime when around that temp.

I'd say bad mounted IHS which has been a common sight especially for opties... seen ppl that had up to 10C temp drop by removing IHS ^^

170 is supposed to be cooler than 165 at the same mhz. Voltage requirement is lower and so less heat.

Gotta be something wrong with the IHS as mentioned or some heatsink problem, not good contact or something.
