Thumbs up Tuniq Tower 120 reviewed - BT PWND

Overclockers.ru reviewed that enormous air cooling solution from Tuniq

    Testbed included :

    Mobo – Asus P5WD2 Premium (i955X), rev. 1.02, BIOS 0422
    CPU – Intel Pentium 4 521 (2.8@4.06GHz) at default Vcore - 1.35V
    Thermal Grease – Zalman

rest of setup doesn`t influence tests

All tests were made in thermal case with constant 30C. Burning was done by S&M 1.7.3 (100% cpu utilization).

NOTE heatsink wasn`t polished and was tested as-is. here`s the pic of how horrible it looks by default :

BTW rest of coolers also were as-is (you guys do know about BT bad fabric polishing)

I know this ain`t new product but worth to try it out

Wow, nice results. I thought it ran typically neck-and-neck with the Ninja. Either way, it's another nice low/no noise solution.

Wow, 7 degres cooler than the Ninja is quite a lot

I'd imagine with a little lapping and mounting another 120mm silent fan performance would be even better

Going by the rest of the results, making the big typhoon bellow the others in list, I would take that crap with a pinch of salt, and its only 1 peeps results on 1 set up.

Yea I prefer the english review, I agree far to big for most to use and anyhow results were not all done on silent running, hmm, no thanks i keep my TT-BT

I agree with humeyboy, this review shows the Zalman 9500 beating the TTBT and that doesn't seem right.

Remember that all coolers reviewev as-is - no laping, no custom fans etc. And Zalman really beats TT on prescott.
And all those tests are done several times with remounting the cooler to exclude any result fluctuations.
Well if you don`t beleive in tests made by respected and largest site for Russian OC community - suit yrself

Thanks but I will say IMO that review is a bag of poo, and the suface looks like its been file'd with a "bastard file" (google if you dont know what a "bastard file" is), total mess and that table of coolers is all in wrong order of performance, going by 100+ other reviews going back over 6+ months.

My BT crushed the 9500 too, I don't believe their results.

I bought a ninja and sold it, was so big I couldnt even mount it without removng the mobo from the case.

guys, don't jump to conclusions, things don't seem to be the same on AMD and Intel CPUs.

hasn't it been established time and time again that the BT can and does get beaten by other heatsinks in stock form? However, it's also been shown that once you bust out the sandpaper, the BT can't be touched by ANY aircooler(except for FordF250's Frankenstein 3x XP-120 ). The BT has a really crappy base finish from the factory, we all know that. So for Joe schmo, maybe he should get the Ninja or the Tuniq. This is XS, though, and last time I checked we'll go for whatever gets us the best performance, regardless of what we must do to get that performance.

Not really, thats not the case for 99% of reviews, they dont lap it, the BT is ok out box to use for most peeps not like us, it shouldnt have dents in it, it may not have glass mirror finish though, thats POS above is the worse finish ive seen, hense I asked if it was abused by a "bastard file"

Don`t think Doors4ever used that "bastard file" for Tuniq - why would he ? On the over hand it would be great to see someone here compared BT and this Tuniq (both laped of course) on open setup with average room temps.

The BT dont work at its best in a open case (been proven), who normally runs a open case ?, its not practical, noise or dust or even looks (asthetic)wise.

BTW, I know nobody has used a "file" to the base of that cooler but its sure the worse finsih I have ever seen lol.

Well any sort of setup would be great for testing. I`d definalty made my own review IF we had Tuniq here Zalman not a problem to get.
