I got my 661 today that is replacing my not-very-OCable 930.
Unlike any Prescot or the Presler I used in this board, this thing overvolts like crazy at idle (.04-.05V over setting). That, more than anything right now is limiting how much Vc I toss at it (1.525Vc setting = 1.56-1.57V idle) and what max OC is. Too bad it still drops to 1.48V on load @ 1.525. I will be reinstalling my vdroop mod tomorrow to better control the Vc. I will also put it on the single stage sometime tomorrow as well.
Note, I wasn't going for scores here, just using PCMark04 for stability testing. Mem was running a weak 5-5-5-15 1:1 to not interfere with the proc OCing. I turned up the mem for SPi, which is the last thing I did tonight. This is with just the CPU on water and it's looking really good so far...
At 1.525Vc, 4914 (273FSB) passes WITH score, 4950 (275FSB) finishes with NO score and 5040 (280FSB) crashes to the desktop. SOOOO close to a solid and stable 5GHz. It probably needs that full 1.55Vc setting which I can't give without running into the 1.60Vc idle range![]()
4914MHz (273FSB) 1.525Vc
1.56Vc idle
1.48 load
28C idle
50C load
SPi 1M @ 5040 would finish. I am really missing the 14x multi and FSB that the LockFree gave on the 670, but it's OK I guess considering it's 5GHz on water!!!!
"Suicide shot" if you want to call it that with 1.525Vc. An even 290FSB would lock up.
