    Thumbs up G.Skill 2GBHZ PC4000 Preliminary test results w/Opteron 180

After having to RMA 2 sets of Crucial Ballistix 2x1gig I decided to give some UCCC another try.
The G.Skill 2GBHZ PC4000 is going for around $220 right now and after seeing some of the other
results being posted here I couldn't wait to try it for myself.

I got these last night and just got through installing them in my work rig so I've not had time to do any real testing yet.
I've not had time to test for max OC with the ram or the max with tighter timings but will have time tomorrow.

I run my Opteron 180 at 3.1ghz 24/7 so I decided to start off testing with 11x282 which would be the ideal setup for my rig.

To my surprise they worked right off the bat, didn't have to change or adjust anything.
Didn't even have to change the ram around in the Dimm's !

I'll admit I took a shortcut and borrowed some settings from this thread by Andre Yang
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ad.php?t=82177 Thanks Andre !

You can't get much easier than this, plug N play @ 282mhz !

I'll have some time tomorrow afternoon to see where they top out at and if I can get the timings any tighter.

I'm just glad to be back up and running with 2x1gig !!

Wow, looking good....good to see UCCC turning around (again-ish).

I bet it's good to be back on 2GB....I've been off for about a month and it's killing me (and my D2OL production).

I've not tried ANYTHING else yet, just didn't have time today. I took a long lunch and did this ! lol

I just set it at 282x11 and manually set the timings and it worked ! hehe

I'll take some time tomorrow afternoon and see how high they can go, I'd also like to see if cas 2.5 will work around 250mhz and If I can improve the timings any at 282mhz.

I ran Auquamark without problems but didn't try any other 3d benchs, I will be sure to do that tomorrow afternoon. I'm not at home tonight so can't do anything else until then.

    BTW Auquamark did +/- 125,000

    Very nice results Major.

I ordered a pair today, although they're so expensive compared to what you guys pay for them in the US.
A 140$ price difference is a lot for the same sticks.

Look at my A64 tweaker settings, you may need to change the ram around in the dimm's too. Sometimes that makes a big difference if you have a weak stick.

Here is the max Pi32 I could get out of it, 287mhz.... I'm open for suggestions on Tref and drive strenght if anyone knows any magic ! lol

yeah, i already noticed "the weak stick"... in one sort, they wouldnt go up to 255 and if i turn aroud the ram's in slots, they are able to pass pi at 270...but 282, it's amazing

if you want can you the sam tests by using 166 or 183 divider because i use 166 divider to o/c at the max

me : 9*312 ram at 257 (166) and i want to do use 183 divider to set ram at 280

i think some timings will change 'cause a different divider of your pics

Congrat. Major Very nice result you got there

Yesterday, i managed to get my HZ to 285@2.68 V. It passed memtest, 3D and other progs fine - but I got BSOD around an hour later.

What's the max vdimme for HZ, 2.7 or 2.8 ?

UCCC is very sensitive to small changes in Vdimm, I'm running at 2.6v 282mhz right now. May even be able to do that at 2.5v ?

Actually, I'm running right now at 310mhz HTT x10 using the 180 memory divider which gives me 282mhz. Not sure what you want me to show, but I'll be glad to run any test you want.

My 180 likes the 10x multi, with the 11x I have to use a higher Vcore with it to obtain stability at the same OC so I'm running with the 10x.

What happens if you set both or either 4's, to 3-3-3? If this ram could run 3-3-3 at 280, then it could pretty much replace balistix altogether.

Do these UCCC RAMs need any sort of active cooling at those high frequencies? Worried if they would get toasty.

I'm intending to get a pair to place in a board which has RAM slots for dual-channel next to each other (DIMM1 and DIMM2) unlike Asus boards which are DIMM1 and DIMM3 for dual-channel.

active cooling is never a bad idea for any memory. they don't seem to get too warm, but i decieded to error on the side of caution.

Well thats what I'm going to test today, I'll see what kind of timings I can tighten up. but I know they wont do 3-3-3 at 280mhz. I had another set of OCZ PC4000 UCCC that would do Cas2.5 at 250mhz, not sure about the secondary timings.
