True...thinking the same here...should debut at $299 which will mean no more 7800gt + cod2 for $299 deals

You're right about the GS too...if it fell to $175 I'd buy it in a second...and since the X1600 will debut at $199, its actually going to get to that price level a lot faster...so most of the GS cards hovering around $250 on newegg will be competing with a 12-pipe X1600XT SM3.0-Ready 512MB GDDR3 card @ 600/1400

The GS in the pic is the one that ended up on my door step. It was an ebay auction that I thought I wasn't going to win because I bid 390 for a new 7800GTX. When I got the card I totally thought someone ripped me off and sent me a GT instead of the GTX. Well it turned out that it was a GS and made a fair trade with Anadtech. Just seeing the review is enough, but I ended up with a 7800GTX 512 and 2GB of XTC.

Oh and I might add that the guy who owned it was clueless to the fact so this card almost went unoticed. So I'm happy that me and my friend Xchus discovered it. I can't wait to see the review and the benchies.

I bet it's highly overclockable, something important to consider. I think 95% of the G70's is capable of 450mhz+ with the proper vcore.

X1600xt's msrp is set for $249. That's the 256mb version, the 512mb is suppose to be $50 more... That isn't going to hit $175 til literally a year from now.

6800GS, available for less than $200 right now. It'll be the first to hit $175, cheapest I've seen em for thus far is $180, so it hasn't been that far off.

As for the 7800gs, I'd honestly expect it to be released at $299. Market saturation will put it down to $250 or lower on opening day though, just like how the 6800GS came out $50 - $60 below MSRP on release date.

NVidia *really* doesn't want ATi to make any money this round. Anyone else notice that?

Well its either this or the RV535...whenever the heck that comes out...and I'm not a very patient person..I like to have my crap NOW !!!

No really though...this isn't a thread on the 6800GS or the X1600, but unless anyone's noticed...the X1600 will be the first mainstream SM 3.0 card by ATI. Its the reason I'm not investing into the awsomely price GTOs...they're all SM2.0b and FM requires at least 256MB of GDDR3 + SM3.0 for it to run the next 3dmark

As for the 7800GS...AT has promised benchies soon so this should get interesting. I suspect a stock 05 score of ~6k, which isn't bad all.

Totally not kidding! I didn't even think I'd win the auction. So it was totally by mistake, but I'm glad I won. I got cool hardware and the fun of the whole event. Wish more interesting things like this would happen. Props to my friend Xchus he got the drivers to work and I checked the pipes inactive/active and all that stuff. We also removed the heatsink to uncover the core markings. We were like WTF but then we were also totally convinced as you can see from the article the performance and everything makes since for it to be a GS. Maybe I'll become a dectective I'm graduating and don't know what to do with the many days ahead. This could be GOD hacking into my life telling me what to do or something??????

Yes that is the card. I had the thread removed so that Anandtech could post what ever they wanted without my interference. I thought they could do a better job of testing the card.

They plan to release 3d benches of it in the upcoming days, I'm sure they need to clear it with Nv first though, hence the delay ?

Don't ask me, but I just got a call from Nvidia. I guess I don't have to explain how that went.

but Gs was supposed to denote Mobile cores.. Does this mean that they are trying to get rid of as many 6series and 7 series cores as humanly possible?
